Picks and Predictions for the Candian Premier League – Sunday, June 19, 2022

The Canadian Premier League dishes up two intriguing matchups this Sunday, June 19. HFX Wanderers and Forge FC go head-to-head in the early kick-off, before FC Edmonton and Atletico Ottawa face off in the second clash.
Can the Wanderers upset the CPL odds against Forge? Will the Eddies FINALLY pick up their first win of the season when Ottleti visits Alberta? Join me as I go over my Canadian Premier League predictions and betting picks for Sunday, June 19.
Canadian Premier League Odds for Sunday, June 19, 2022
Here are Sunday’s Canadian Premier League odds, courtesy of Betway.
- HFX Wanderers (3.40); Draw (3.40); Forge FC (1.85)
- FC Edmonton (3.25); Draw (3.20); Atletico Ottawa (1.95)
As you can see, Betway favors the away teams to win on Sunday. Forge is expected to get the better of HXF Wanderers, while Atletico Ottawa looks set to heap more misery on struggling Edmonton.
It is difficult to argue with Betway’s Canadian Premier League odds for Sunday. Regardless of the home-field advantage for the Wanderers and Edmonton, Forge and Atletico should have enough to claim all three points on the road.
Canadian Premier League Predictions for Sunday, June 19
Here are my predictions for Sunday’s Canadian Premier League games. If you like what you see, be sure to check out my recommended CPL betting picks at the end of this post.
HFX Wanderers vs. Forge FC Prediction
Fifth-place HFX Wanderers and fourth-place Forge FC are locked on 14 points in the standings. However, Forge has two games in hand over Stephen Hart’s side.
The Hammers’ involvement in the Canadian Championship has seen them fall behind in the CPL, but they are still in a strong position. In fact, they have scored more goals than anyone else – despite having played fewer games.
- Forge FC – 18
- Cavalry FC – 17
- Valour FC – 16
- Pacific FC – 13
- Atletico Ottawa – 11
It is also worth pointing out that Forge boasts the second-best defensive record in the league. Having conceded just nine goals in eight outings, the two-time champions have set themselves up for another successful season.
Following subsequent high-scoring victories over Edmonton (4-3) and Pacific (3-0), it’s safe to say that the Hammers are in the groove. Naturally, that is not good news for HFX.
As for the Wanderers, they have only managed to win two of their last six matches across all competitions. To make matters worse, they have lost three of their previous five.
Hart’s men are not exactly having a bad season, but they are nowhere near the level of the Hammers. I’m confident that Forge will claim all three points on Sunday.
FC Edmonton vs. Atletico Ottawa Prediction
It wouldn’t be unfair to say that Edmonton is enduring a campaign to forget. With 11 games in the books, Alan Koch’s boys find themselves rock bottom of the standings without a single win to their name.
Having registered four draws and seven losses, the Eddies are six points adrift of seventh-place York United. Worse still, they are 14 points shy of third-place Atletico Ottawa – their next opponent.
Oh, and did I mention that Edmonton has the weakest defense in the Candian Premier League? Koch’s boys have conceded 22 goals in 11 games this year, meaning they average two goals against per game.
- FC Edmonton – 22
- Valour FC – 15
- Pacific FC – 14
- Atletico Ottawa – 12
- HFX Wanderers – 12
On the flip side, Carlos Gonzalez’s men have lost just two of their ten CPL outings this season – picking up five wins and three draws along the way. Only first-place Cavalry has claimed more victories in 2022.
Atletico comes into Sunday’s showdown on a five-game unbeaten streak, having sealed three straight wins between late May and early June. It is worth noting that one of those wins was a 2-1 away victory over Edmonton.
While Atletico is on a five-game unbeaten streak, Edmonton is on a 12-game winless run. No prizes for guessing who I’m backing to win this clash!
Top Canadian Premier League Picks for Sunday, June 19, 2022
Now that you’ve had my CPL predictions, it’s time to go over the best Canadian Premier League betting picks for Sunday, June 19.
Forge is priced at 1.85 to beat the Wanderers. Granted, that is not a bad price. But I recommend adding the over 2.5 goals wager into the equation to boost the odds to 2.70.
In my eyes, odds of 1.95 for Atletico to beat Edmonton are high enough as they are. I expect the Eddies to lose, but Gonzalez’s men don’t score many goals. This could be a low-scoring win for Ottleti.
