Welcome to my Canadian Premier League predictions and betting picks for Saturday, July 23. We may only have two CPL games to bet on this Saturday, but they both promise to be intriguing battles.

Before we jump into my Canadian Premier League predictions, let’s take a quick look at Saturday’s CPL schedule.

Can struggling FC Edmonton upset the Canadian Premier League odds against HFX Wanderers? Who will come out on top when fourth-place Forge hosts fifth-place Valour? Lucky for you, I answer those questions below.

Right, it’s time to go over Saturday’s Canadian Premier League predictions. I will start with my HFX Wanderers vs. FC Edmonton prediction before moving on to my Forge vs. Valour prediction.

It wouldn’t be unfair to say that FC Edmonton is enduring a season to forget.

With 16 games in the books, Alan Koch’s men find themselves rock bottom of the CPL standings – four points shy of seventh-place York United and seven points behind sixth-place HFX Wanderers.

The Eddies failed to win any of their first 11 games this year, registering four draws and seven losses. A run of two wins in three outings briefly stemmed the tide, but they have since suffered two heavy defeats.

Not only have Koch’s men lost four of their last six games, but they have also lost nine of their previous 12. It doesn’t get much worse than that.

Granted, the Wanderers are not enjoying an amazing season. But they still sit seven points clear of Edmonton after registering five wins, two draws, and eight losses. It is also worth noting that Stephen Hart’s boys have conceded 12 goals fewer than Edmonton this season.

In addition to winning each of the last three meetings between the teams, the Wanderers have won five of the previous six. You probably won’t be surprised to learn that I’m backing the Wanderers to claim all three points on Saturday.

Fourth-place Forge and fifth-place Valour are separated by just three points. That said, Forge has a game in hand on Valour.

Both sides have suffered four defeats this season, but Forge has claimed two wins more than Valour. It is also worth pointing out that Forge has posted a series of positive results in recent weeks.

Indeed, the Hammers have won three of their past five games – netting a combined total of ten goals in the process. Woobens Pacius was responsible for five of those goals, including a hat-trick in the 5-1 rout of Edmonton.

On the flip side, Valour heads into Saturday’s clash on the back of a 1-1 draw with Atletico Ottawa. Thanks to three straight wins between late June and early July, the Manitobans are on a four-game unbeaten streak.

However, Phillip Dos Santos’ men have only managed to win three of their last nine CPL clashes. With three draws and three defeats coming during that period, they will be eager to discover some consistency ahead of the run-in.

This is destined to be a close-fought battle between two in-form teams, but I’m confident the Forge will come out on top. Having won six of their previous eight games, the Hammers are ready to take down Valour.

In my eyes, the BTTS wager is the best bet for Forge vs. Valour. Both teams have scored in nine of Valour’s 14 CPL this year (64%). On top of that, both teams have scored in seven of Valour’s eight away games (88%).
