Parx Racing Picks – Wednesday, September 30, 2020

Thoroughbred racing continues at Parx Racing with a ten-race schedule today of maiden, allowance, and claiming matches.

Spectators are permitted at Parx Racing, so come prepared for a 20% chance of rain under partly cloudy skies, highs in the low 70s, and winds around 13 mph.

This is a claiming race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance about five furlongs on turf for a purse of $23,000.

If the 5/1 also-eligible Awsum Road, ridden by Angel R. Rodriguez, makes it into this race, then my money is on her to win. This six-year-old mare moneyed 18 of her 26 career starts, winning nine of them.

Given the field as it stands, however, I have to go with the 3/1 morning line favorite—Snow Forecast, with Silvestre Gonzalez in the irons. This four-year-old filly finished in the money 10 of her 18 career starts, winning four of them.

Plenty of longshots in this race, but none of them appear to have any chance of a money finish.

This is an allowance race for Pennsylvania-bred fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $35,000.

I’m backing the heavily-favored (8/5) entry in this race—Sunny Dale, ridden by veteran jockey Jeremy Laprida. This four-year-old filly moneyed ten of her 15 career starts, winning three of them.

At 12/1, Charly’s Charm, with Anthony Y. Nunez aboard, could be worth a show ticket. This four-year-old filly finished in the money for seven of her nine career starts, winning two of them.

This is an allowance optional claiming race for three-year-olds running a distance of 6-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $41,000.

I’m sticking with the 2/1 morning line favorite here, as well—Inter Miami, ridden by Mychel Sanchez. This three-year-old colt moneyed four of his nine career starts, winning three.

There are no long odds in this six-horse race, and I don’t see a clear trifecta to recommend, so let’s save our risky money for now.
