Parx Racing Picks – Monday, September 14, 2020
Ten claiming, starter, and allowance races fill Monday’s card at Parx Casino & Racing.
I assess the three richest races at Parx Racing for Monday here, but you can always find the full schedule of races at any of the top horse racing betting sites.
Now, let’s move on to my picks and predictions for Parx Racing today.
Pick for Parx Racing Race 5
This is a starter optional claiming race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of 1-1/8 miles on turf for a purse of $23,000.
I’m in agreement with the morning line here, so I’m betting the win on the 5/2 favorite, Bellarmine Hall, with Ruben Silvera in the irons. This three-year-old gelding moneyed five of his 11 career starts, winning one.
Sorry, but none of the longer-odds entries look like value bets at all.
- Win: Bellarmine Hall 5/2
Pick for Parx Racing Race 8
This is a maiden special weight race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $40,000.
Maiden races are sources of endless surprise, and you can tell how much surprise by looking at the jockeys. This race is filled with top jockeys, which means the trainers and owners of each enetry are very interested in a successful outcome for their horse.
That said, I’m backing the second-favored (7/2) Milton the Monster, ridden by the capable Angel Castillo. This three-year-old colt moneyed one of his two career starts. Sure, the favorite moneyed all three of his starts, but pole position and a less experienced jockey made me go with Milton the Monster.
There are three 10/1 long-odds entries in this race—all with zero money finishes with one start–and all three of them have top jockeys aboard. I recommend saving your money, but if you must, pick your favorite jockey aboard one of the 10/1 underdogs, buy a show ticket, and cross your fingers.
- Win: Milton the Monster 7/2
Pick for Parx Race 9
This is a starter allowance race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of one mile for a purse of $22,000.
I’m taking the morning line’s advice and buying a win ticket for the 5/2 favorite Luvinmeiseasy, with top jockey Frankie Pennington aboard. This seven-year-old gelding moneyed 25 of his 48 career starts, winning 13 of them.
The two longer-odds entries in this race just don’t have what it takes to succeed here.
- Win: Luvinmeiseasy 5/2
