Parx Racing Picks – Tuesday, October 6, 2020

| October 6, 2020 1:09 am PDT

Thoroughbred racing continues in Shelbyville, Pennsylvania today with ten allowance, maiden, and claiming matches.

Parx Racing spectators (yes, they are permitted) will enjoy the races under sunny skies, with highs in the low 70s, and winds around nine mph.

Read on for my Parx Racing betting tips and picks for Tuesday, October 6, 2020.

Parx Racing Picks for Race 7

This is a maiden special weight race for two-year-old fillies running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $40,000.

I like the 3/1 morning line favorite here—Aegean Sea, ridden by Luis M. Ocasio. This filly moneyed one of her two career starts and has very respectable times in her longer workouts runs.

I don’t see any of the longer-odds entries making it across the finish line in time for payday.

  • Win: Aegean Sea 3/1

Parx Racing Picks for Race 9

This is an allowance race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of seven furlongs for a purse of $41,000.

Whichever of the coupled entries Frankie Pennington ends up riding, he’s still going to have his work cut out for him besting Silvestre Gonzalez aboard the second-favored (7/2) Rock On Luke. This three-year-old gelding moneyed all four of his career starts, winning one of them. And while he doesn’t have Pennington’s experience, Gonzalez has ridden Rock On Luke into the money for every one of his races, and I believe the partnership can only improve.

The longest I’ll go for a value show bet in this race is 10/1, and that’s for Defibrillator. This four-year-old gelding moneyed seven of his nine career starts, winning two of them. His jockey was to have been Anthony Y. Nunez, but Nunez was hospitalized following a traffic accident October 1, and as of this writing, a replacement jockey has not been named.

  • Win: Rock On Luke 7/2
  • Show: Defibrillator 10/1

Parx Racing Picks for Race 10

This is an allowance race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of 6-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $40,000.

I like the third-favored (9/2) entry here—Be Present, With Mychel Sanchez in the irons. This three-year-old filly moneyed four of her five career starts, winning one of them.

At 15/1, I have to like Midnight Miracle, with Jeremy Laprida aboard, for a value show bet. This four-year-old filly moneyed 14 of her 23 starts, with eight of those wins. You might even consider an across-the-board bet here, but I’m only recommending the show ticket.

  • Win: Be Present 9/2
  • Show: Midnight Miracle 15/1
