Parx Racing Picks – Wednesday, October 28, 2020
Wednesday’s racing fare at Parx Racing includes eleven allowance, maiden, and claiming races, and I pick winners and even a long-odds prospect for our entertainment and for our bankrolls.
Remember that Parx is open to spectators, but today might not be the best time to have your Day at the Races, what with the forecast calling for scattered showers, highs in the mid-60s, and mild winds around eight mph.
Today might be a good day to stay inside and check out Parx Racing’s full race card for Wednesday at one of our top horseracing betting sites.
Either way, read on for my Parx Racing picks and betting tips for Wednesday, October 28, 2020.
Pick for Parx Racing Race 1
This is a maiden claiming race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of 6-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $27,000.
There are better jockeys in this race, but they’re all aboard inferior horses with little chance to improve enough to matter for this race, so I’m backing the 8/5 morning line favorite here—Company Clown, with Luis M. Ocasio in the irons. This three-year-old gelding moneyed three of his five career starts.
There’s only one long-odds entry in this race, and that horse is not going to see a payday here, so let’s wait for something more realistic.
- Win: Company Clown 8/5
Pick for Parx Racing Race 8
This is a maiden special weight race for two-year-olds running a distance of seven furlongs for a purse of $40,000.
The 5/2 morning line favorite here is the only horse among the top four with an actual starting record, and it’s a good one, so I’m backing Principino, with Hector Caballero aboard. This colt moneyed both his career starts, pulling a third and most recently, a second.
I don’t see any long-odds entries here with a chance at sharing any of that purse, so let’s leave it at that.
- Win: Principino 5/2
Picks for Parx Racing Race 10
This is an allowance optional claiming race for three-year-olds running a distance of one mile and 70 yards for a purse of $41,000.
I think that while the 5/2 morning line favorite will give the second-favored (7/2) entry plenty of competition, it is the second-favored Pitching Ari, ridden by Luis M. Ocasio, that will prevail. This three-year-old gelding moneyed seven of his 12 career starts, winning four of them. For comparison, the favorite (ridden in this race by Frankie Pennington) moneyed six of his ten starts, winning one.
At 12/1, I think Market Mover, with Ruben Silvera in the irons, is a good choice for a value show wager. His 2020 record is six money finishes in 11 starts, two of them wins.
- Win: Pitching Ari 7/2
- Show: Market Mover 12/1
