Parx Racing Picks – Tuesday, November 3, 2020

Wednesday’s racing fare at Parx Racing includes eleven allowance, maiden, and claiming races, and I pick winners and even a long-odds prospect for our entertainment and for our bankrolls.

For those locals attending the races in person (Parx allow spectators), dress warmly—while there’s no rain in the forecast, the skies will be partly cloudy and the highs for the day will be in the mid-50s, with winds around 14 mph.

This is a starter optional claiming race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of one mile for a purse of $25,000.

I like the 2/1 morning line favorite for this race—Baringer Spring, with Luis M. Ocasio in the irons. This four-year-old gelding broke his maiden just last month at Parx and has finished in the money a total of six of his 11 career starts.

Of the four entries at 10/1 or higher M/L odds, I don’t see a single one capable of finishing in the money against this field, so save your bargain show-ticket money for later.

This is a maiden special weight race for two-year-olds running a distance of 6-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $24,000.

At 9/5, the top half of the 1/1A coupled entries is my choice for the win in this race—Smokum Peace Pipe, with veteran jockey Frankie Pennington aboard. This two-year-old gelding moneyed both of his career starts, giving him better statistics than any of his competitors in this race.

If Smokum Peace Pipe is scratched and Pennington winds up riding the bottom half of the coupled entries—Just a Thought—then you’ll be wanting to go with the second-favored (7/2) Dakota Outlaw, with Angel R. Rodriguez in the irons.

There are a couple of longer-odds entries here, but neither looks to be in line for a paycheck.

This is an allowance optional claiming race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of seven furlongs for a purse of $41,000.

I’m sticking with the 5/2 morning line favorite here—Arkaan, with Mychel Sanchez aboard. This three-year-old colt moneyed three of his four career starts, winning two.

At 15/1, I like Love Is Your Name, with Edwin Rivera in the irons, for a value show wager. Overall, this six-year-old gelding has performed well enough, having moneyed 24 of his 39 career starts, winning seven, but in 2020, his stats have improved: He finished in the money four of his five starts, winning one.
