Parx Racing Picks – Wednesday, November 25, 2020

| November 24, 2020 12:57 pm PDT

Parx Racing has plenty of maiden races to choose from on Wednesday’s ten-race card, and as it happens, the three races with the largest purses (that’s how I choose which three I’ll review) are all for thoroughbreds that have never won a race.

Remember that while I cover Wednesday’s three richest races at Parx, you will find their entire race card at one of our recommended online racebooks.

Read on for my Parx Racing picks and betting tips for Wednesday, November 25, 2020.

Picks for Race 1 at Parx Racing

This is a maiden special weight race for two-year-olds running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $40,000.

I’m sticking with the 3/1 morning line favorite in this race — Garban, with Edwin Rivera in the irons. This colt moneyed one of his two career starts with a second-place finish at Parx in September, which puts him at the head of the line in this field.

It’s not a good idea to put much faith in workouts, but in maiden two-year-old races, that’s often the only indicator of performance you have. And in this case, I see a possible value show bet in the 15/1 Vinny Dream, ridden by Dexter Haddock. This colt has shown exceptional performance in recent workouts.

  •  Win: Garban 3/1
  •  Show: Vinny Dream 15/1

Pick for Race 3 at Parx Racing

This is a maiden claiming race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of one mile for a purse of $30,000.

I have to go with the 9/5 morning line favorite in this race, too — Cousin Basil, with Anthony Salgado aboard. This three-year-old filly moneyed four of her six career starts.

The longest odds in this race are 12/1, and neither of those two entries show any indication they can finish in the money against this field.

  •  Win: Cousin Basil 9/5

Pick Race 5 at Parx Racing

This is a maiden special weight race for two-year-olds running a distance of one mile and 70 yards for a purse of $40,000.

I guess I’m voting the straight morning line ticket today because my money is on the 5/2 favorite in this race — Doctor Doom, with veteran jockey Frankie Pennington in the irons. This colt finished in the money for two of his three career starts.

There are a handful of long-odds entries in this nine-horse field, but I don’t see any of them taking home a paycheck.

  •  Win: Doctor Doom 5/2
