Parx Racing Picks – Tuesday, March 9, 2021

| March 8, 2021 1:05 pm PDT

Parx Racing delivers an 11-race schedule of mostly claiming races for Tuesday.

Remember that Parx Racing welcomes spectators, and those who attend can expect mostly sunny skies, highs in the low 60s, and winds around 11 mph.

Incidentally, you can find Parx Racing’s entire 11-race card for Tuesday — including entries, jockeys, morning line odds, and wagering options — at one of our recommended online racebooks.

Now, read on for my Parx Racing picks and betting tips for Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

Picks for Race 7 at Parx Racing

This is a starter optional claiming race for four-year-olds and upward running a distance of 6-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $25,000.

My money’s on the 5/2 morning line favorite in this race — Brees Bayou, with Jaime Rodriguez in the irons. This five-year-old gelding moneyed four of his nine career starts, winning one, and he has superior overall speed figures versus the rest of this field.

At 10/1, I like Tommy the Torch, with Anthony Y. Nunez aboard, for a value show wager. This four-year-old gelding moneyed four of his seven career starts, winning one.

  •  Win: Brees Bayou 5/2
  •  Show: Tommy the Torch 10/1

Pick for Race 8 at Parx Racing

This is a maiden special weight race for three-year-olds running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $40,000.

I like the first half of the coupled entry (a 6/1 underdog) — Principino, ridden by Rigo Sarmiento. This colt moneyed two of his three career starts, which gives him a slight statistical edge over the morning line favorite.

I don’t see any longer-odds entries in this maiden race likely to finish anywhere near the money, so let’s save ours.

  •  Win: Principino 6/1

Pick for Race 10 at Parx Racing

This is a starter allowance race for fillies and mares four years old and upward running a distance of one mile for a purse of $26,000.

I like the second-favored (5/2) entry in this race — Mia Bella Rossa. I’ve touted this seven-year-old mare several times in the past, mostly with unsatisfactory results, but that won’t keep me from betting on her again. For the record, she has finished in the money for 25 of her 43 career starts, with 15 wins.

And again, I find no longer-odds entries in this race that could finish in the money, so we save our long money for later.

  •  Win: Mia Bella Rossa 5/2

More Picks for Tuesday
