Read on for my Parx Racing picks and betting tips for Wednesday, March 3, 2021.
Pick for Race 1 at Parx Racing
This is a waiver maiden claiming race for four-year-olds and upward running a distance of 6-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $21,000.
My money is on the 9/5 favorite here — Don’t Recall, with Frankie Pennington in the irons. This four-year-old gelding finished in the money five of his six career starts.
I don’t see any of the longer-odds entries in this seven-horse run achieving much more than crossing the finish line behind all the other horses, so no value show bet recommendation for this race.
- Win: Don’t Recall 9/5
Pick for Race 9 at Parx Racing
This is an allowance optional claiming race for three-year-olds running a distance of 6-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $41,000.
While this race could be the most hotly contested run of the day, I’m still calling it for the second-favored (3/1) entry — Indian Lake, ridden by Ruben Silvera. This gelding moneyed all nine of his career starts, winning two. There may be more experienced jockeys than Silvera in this race, but he’s aboard the most competitive horse — and that should make all the difference.
The longest odds in this six-horse race are 8/1, and that horse isn’t going to finish anywhere near the money.
- Win: Indian Lake 3/1
Picks for Race 10 at Parx Racing
This is a starter allowance race for four-year-olds and upward running a distance of 1-1/16 miles for a purse of $22,000.
I’m agreeing with the morning line in this race and putting my money on the 2/1 favorite — Iywaan, with Frankie Pennington aboard. This six-year-old moneyed 14 of his 22 career starts, winning seven.
And at 20/1, I have to like Pennsylvania Steel, ridden by Jorge L. Gonzalez, for a value show ticket. This five-year-old gelding moneyed five of his ten career starts, winning three.
- Win: Iywaan 2/1
- Show: Pennsylvania Steel 20/1
