Parx Racing Picks – Tuesday, March 2, 2021

Parx Racing has 11 maiden, starter, allowance, and claiming races on its schedule for our Tuesday wagering.
Race cancellations due to weather have kept Parx (and many other tracks) on the back foot for a few weeks now, but they appear to be catching some good luck now, with sunny skies and slowly rising temperatures predicted for the week. Spectators can expect Tuesday to be sunny but cold, with highs in the upper 30s and winds around 17 mph.
Remember that you can find Parx Racing’s entire 11-race card for Tuesday — including entries, jockeys, morning line odds, and wagering options — at one of our best online racebooks.
Read on for my Parx Racing picks and betting tips for Tuesday, March 2, 2021.
Pick for Race 5 at Parx Racing
This is a maiden special weight race for three-year-old fillies running a distance of seven furlongs for a purse of $34,000.
I’m putting my money on the second-favored (5/2) entry here — Midnight Obsession, with Frankie Pennington in the irons. This filly has no starting record, but she has performed demonstrably better than the rest of this field in recent workouts.
I don’t see either of the longer-odds fillies making it to the finish line in time for payday, so no value show ticket recommendations for this race.
- Win: Midnight Obsession 5/2
Picks for Race 7 at Parx Racing
This is a starter allowance race for fillies and mares four years old and upward running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $27,000.
I see this run as a battle between the favorite and the fourth-favored entries, but I also see the 9/5 morning line favorite winning, so that’s where my bet goes — Customerexperience, ridden by Jaime Rodriguez. This four-year-old filly moneyed seven of her 11 career starts, winning three.
And at 20/1, I like Shatter Me, with Jeremy Laprida aboard, for a value show ticket. This four-year-old filly moneyed 10 of her 13 career starts, winning two.
- Win: Customerexperience 9/5
- Show: Shatter Me 20/1
Pick for Race 10 at Parx Racing
This is an allowance race for Pennsylvania-bred fillies and mares four years old and upward running a distance of 5-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $35,000.
I’m buying my win ticket on the second-favored (7/2) entry in this race — Lady Munnings, ridden by Frankie Pennington. This five-year-old mare moneyed 11 of her 16 career starts, winning five, and while her performance has had its ups and downs, she does better on dirt than on all-weather surfaces. Lucky for her this race is on the main track.
None of the longer odds entries here look likely to do much more than to chase the other horses, so save your long money.
- Win: Lady Munnings 7/2
