Parx Racing Picks – Tuesday, January 19, 2021

Parx Racing delivers a ten-race card filled with bread-and-butter claiming races for Tuesday.
While I review three of Parx Racing’s richest races here, remember that you can find their entire ten-race card — including entries, jockeys, morning-line odds, and wagering options — at one of our top online racebooks.
Read on for my Parx Racing picks and betting tips for Tuesday, January 19, 2021.
Pick for Race 6 at Parx Racing
This is a starter allowance race for fillies and mares four years old and upward running a distance of one mile and 70 yards for a purse of $27,000.
I’m backing the second-favored (7/2) entry in this race — Mabel Island, with Roberto Rosado in the irons. This four-year-old filly finished in the money four of her nine career starts, winning three.
For the sake of comparison, Jomar Torres’ mount — the morning line favorite Queen of Tomorrow — moneyed nine of her 17 career starts, winning three.
The longest odds in this seven-horse field are 8/1, and surprisingly, I don’t see either of those two horses seeing any hope of a payday at the finish line.
- Win: Mabel Island 7/2
Picks for Race 8 at Parx Racing
This is a starter allowance race for four-year-olds running a distance of one mile and 70 yards for a purse of $27,000.
I’m going with the second-favored (3/1) entry in this race, as well — Runningforhome, with Anthony Salgado aboard. This four-year-old gelding finished in the money six of his 11 career starts, winning three.
For a solid value show ticket, I like the 15/1 morning line odds on Pennsylvania Steel, ridden by Jorge L. Gonzalez. This five-year-old gelding moneyed five of his eight career starts, winning three.
- Win: Runningforhome 3/1
- Show: Pennsylvania Steel 15/1
Pick for Race 9 at Parx Racing
This is an allowance optional claiming race for four-year-olds and upward running a distance of one mile and 70 yards for a purse of $41,000.
The second-favored entry in this race at 3/1 is my choice to win — and I suspect strongly the two will finish in first and second place.
The top half of the coupled entry is Thundershook, Ruben Silvera. This five-year-old gelding moneyed 18 of his 26 career starts, winning seven.
The other side of the couple entry is Flat Out Beautiful, with Frankie Pennington aboard. This five-year-old gelding finished in the money 14 of his 22 career starts, winning seven.
The longest odds in this match are 15/1, and as tight as this field is, I don’t see those long-odds entries cashing a paycheck at the end of this run.
- Win: Thundershook/Flat Out Beautiful 3/1
