Parx Racing Picks – Wednesday, January 13, 2021

| January 12, 2021 12:45 pm PDT

Parx Racing delivers a solid ten-race schedule of maiden, starter, allowance, and claiming races for the middle of the racing week.

Remember that Parx Racing has re-opened to spectators as of January 4, so if you attend, expect mostly sunny skies, temperatures in the upper 40s, and winds around nine mph.

Also, note that while I review three of Parx Racing’s richest races here, you can find their entire ten-race card for Wednesday— including entries, jockeys, morning-line odds, and wagering options — at one of our recommended online racebooks.

Read on for my Parx Racing picks and betting tips for Wednesday, January 13, 2021.

Pick for Race 1 at Parx Racing

This is a starter optional claiming race for fillies and mares four years old and upward running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $25,000.

I like the bottom half of the coupled entry for this race (second-favored at 3/1), so if This Round’s Mine is in the starting gate, bet her to win, regardless of her jockey (Ruben Silvera is currently slated to ride both the 1 and 1A horses). A five-year-old mare, This Round’s Mine moneyed four of her seven career starts, winning one.

The longest morning line odds in this race are 6/1, so I don’t have a recommended value show bet.

  •  Win: This Round’s Mine 3/1

Pick for Race 5 at Parx Racing

This is a maiden claiming race for three-year-olds running a distance of one mile and 70 yards for a purse of $21,000.

I like the third-favored (9/2) entry in this race — Myhessexpress, ridden by Frankie Pennington. This three-year-old gelding finished in the money three of his six career starts, which gives him the best record in this eight-horse field.

I don’t see any long-odds entries in this race capable of finishing in the money, so we’ll save our long money for later.

  •  Win: Myhessexpress 9/2

Pick for Race 7 at Parx Racing

This is a maiden special weight race for three-year-old fillies running a distance of one mile for a purse of $40,000.

I’m sticking with the 2/1 morning line favorite for this race — Bravo Regina, with Abner Adorno aboard. This filly moneyed five of her seven career starts.

The longest odds in this race are 10/1 for the coupled entry, and unfortunately, I don’t see a money finish in their immediate future.

  •  Win: Bravo Regina 2/1

More Picks for Wednesday

Parx Racing was a bit stingy with the long-odds value bets and somewhat generous with the underdogs, but I found more of both at the other two tracks I reviewed for Wednesday:
