Parx Racing Picks – Tuesday, February 9, 2021

Parx Racing has ten starter, maiden, allowance, and claiming races scheduled for our Tuesday wagering, and you may recognize some of the horses competing — because last Tuesday’s races were postponed due to weather.
Speaking of which, the weather in Bensalem, Pennsylvania is still winter-ish (go figure), so it’s possible that this Tuesday’s races will be postponed. At the time of this writing, however, that was not the case.
Read on for my Parx Racing picks and betting tips for Tuesday, February 9, 2021.
Pick for Race 8 at Parx Racing
This is a starter optional claiming race for four-year-olds and upward running a distance of one mile for a purse of $22,000.
There are three sets of coupled entries in this race, and I like the first half of the second-favored (7/2) entries — Mr. Roundtree, with Angel Castillo aboard. This five-year-old gelding moneyed seven of his ten career starts, winning two.
There are no long-odds entries in this race likely to finish in the money.
- Win: Mr. Roundtree 7/2
Picks for Race 9 at Parx Racing
This is an allowance optional claiming race for four-year-olds and upward running a distance of one mile and 70 yards for a purse of $41,000.
I’m backing the second-favored (7/2) entry in this run — Irish Cork, with Angel R. Rodriguez in the irons. This four-year-old gelding finished in the money all 12 of his career starts, winning three.
At 10/1, Broad Street Bully, ridden by Abner Adorno, looks good for a value show ticket. This five-year-old gelding moneyed seven of his 12 career starts, winning three of them.
- Win: Irish Cork 7/2
- Show: Broad Street Bully 10/1
Picks for Race 10 at Parx Racing
This is a claiming race for four-year-olds and upward running a distance of 6-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $29,000.
I like the first half of the second-favored (4/1) coupled entries for the win here — Thousand Percent, with Angel R. Rodriguez aboard. This five-year-old gelding moneyed 13 of his 27 career starts, winning five.
For comparison, the 7/2 morning line favorite moneyed 22 of his 48 career starts, winning six.
If the also-eligible (at 20/1) Guns of Steel, ridden by Jaime Rodriguez, makes it into this race, he is definitely worth a show ticket. This nine-year-old gelding moneyed 34 of his 68 career starts, winning 20 of them. You might even consider an across the board wager here, but I’m just recommending the show bet.
None of the other long-odds entries are likely to finish in the money.
- Win: Thousand Percent 4/1
- Show: Guns of Steel 20/1 (if starts)
