Parx Racing Picks – Tuesday, February 2, 2021
Parx Racing brings us ten starter, maiden, allowance, and claiming races to continue the week’s thoroughbred racing schedule.
Read on for my Parx Racing picks and betting tips for Tuesday, February 2, 2021.
Picks for Race 7 at Parx Racing
This is a starter optional claiming race for fillies and mares four years old and upward running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $28,000.
I agree with the morning line for this race, and I’m betting on the 5/2 favorite — Shesasuperfreak, with Jaime Rodriguez in the irons. This five-year-old mare moneyed eight of her 19 career starts, winning one.
Keep an eye on the 5/1 sleeper in this race — Light Up Night, with Laureano Flores, Jr. aboard. This four-year-old filly moneyed five of her seven career starts, winning one. She also has a seven-pound apprentice allowance, thanks to Flores.
Of the two longest-odds entries in this race (both at 12/1), the one that looks most likely to finish in the money is This Round’s Mine, with Ruben Silvera in the irons. This five-year-old mare finished in the money four of her eight career starts, winning one.
- Win: Shesasuperfreak 5/2
- Sleeper: Light Up Night 5/1
- Show: This Round’s Mine 12/1
Picks for Race 8 at Parx Racing
This is a starter optional claiming race for four-year-olds and upward running a distance of one mile for a purse of $22,000.
I like the second-favored (3/1) entry here — the first coupled entry (or more specifically, the second half of the 1/1A coupled entry) — Mr. Roundtree, with Angel Castillo aboard. This five-year-old gelding moneyed seven of his ten career starts, winning two.
And at 12/1, I like Jayjaydee, ridden by Frankie Pennington, for a value show ticket. This four-year-old gelding moneyed five of his nine career starts, winning two.
- Win: Mr. Roundtree 3/1
- Show: Jayjaydee 12/1
Picks for Race 9 at Parx Racing
This is an allowance optional claiming race for four-year-olds and upward running a distance of 1-1/16 miles for a purse of $41,000.
I’m backing the third-favored (4/1) entry in this race — Irish Cork, with Angel R. Rodriguez in the irons. This four-year-old gelding moneyed every one of his 12 career starts, winning three.
At 10/1, Broad Street Bully, ridden by Abner Adorno, looks like a good value show wager. This five-year-old gelding moneyed seven of his 12 career starts, winning three.
- Win: Irish Cork 4/1
- Show: Broad Street Bully 10/1
