Parx Racing Picks for Wednesday, December 16, 2020

| December 16, 2020 7:44 am PDT

Parx Racing brings us ten maiden and claiming races for Wednesday, with a lone allowance match tossed in for the flavor.

I found some underdogs with potential at Parx, as well as a couple of medium-odds show tickets that should improve our bankrolls’ self-esteem.

Read on for my predictions and picks for Wednesday, December 16 at Parx Racing.

Picks for Race 3 at Parx Racing

This is a maiden special weight race for two-year-old fillies running a distance of 5-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $40,000.

I’m agreeing with the morning line in this race and calling it for the 9/5 favorite — Vino y Queso, ridden by Mychel Sanchez. This filly placed third in her single career start just last month and has shown impressive performance in recent workouts.

If Angel Salgado rides the first half of the 2-2X coupled entry — Celestial Pride — you may want to consider a value show bet on this 15/1 M/L. If Salgado is aboard the other half — Clout Chaser — save your long money. And if both horses start this race, regardless of rider, Celestial Pride is your value show wager.

  • Win: Vino y Queso 9/5
  • Show: Celestial Pride 15/1

Pick for Race 5 at Parx Racing

This is an allowance race for Pennsylvania-bred three-year-olds and upward running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $35,000.

I like the second-favored (2/1) entry in this race — Knockout Kick, with Jaime Rodriguez aboard. This three-year-old gelding moneyed both of his career starts, winning one of them. He’ll probably see plenty of competition from the 8/5 morning line favorite, Jerusalem Gates, ridden by Frankie Pennington, but I think he can prevail.

The longest odds in this eight-horse race are 15/1, and I don’t see either of those horses finishing anywhere near the money.

  • Win: Knockout Kick 2/1

Picks for Race 9 at Parx Racing

This is an allowance race for Pennsylvania-bred fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of seven furlongs for a purse of $35,000.

I’m betting on the third-favored (4/1) entry in this race — Lady Munnings, ridden by Frankie Pennington. This four-year-old filly finished in the money ten of her 15 career starts, winning five of them.

At 10/1, the first half of the coupled entry in this race — Congrats Answer, with Edwin Rivera aboard, squeaks across the wire as my choice for a value show bet. This three-year-old filly moneyed five of her ten career starts, winning two, but it’s her 2020 record, which trims off two moneyless finishes from her total, that makes me think she’s worth the show ticket.

  • Win: Lady Munnings 4/1
  • Show: Congrats Answer 10/1
