Parx Racing Picks – Tuesday, December 1, 2020

Parx Racing has plenty of claiming races on the schedule for Tuesday, although they add a couple of starter allowance and regular allowance races to even out the card.

This is a starter allowance race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of seven furlongs for a purse of $27,000.

I like the second-favored (7/2) entry in this race — Call Me Daddy, with Dexter Haddock in the irons. This three-year-old colt moneyed seven of his 11 career starts, winning three.

Plenty of longer-odds entries in this race, but none that look to do any better than follow the other horses, so let’s save our long money for later.

This is an allowance race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of one mile and 70 yards for a purse of $41,000.

I’m betting on the second-favored (3/1) entry here — Mr Thrifty, ridden by veteran jockey Frankie Pennington. This three-year-old colt has a better record than either of the morning line’s favorite coupled-entry horses: Seven money finishes in 11 career starts, one a win.

Sure, the coupled-entry horses each have more wins than Mr Thrifty, but it took them two to three times as many starts to achieve that.

I don’t see any of the longer-odds entries in this 11-horse race finishing anywhere near the money, so let’s keep ours in our pockets.

This is an allowance race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of seven furlongs for a purse of $40,000.

I’m buying a win ticket on the third-favored (9/2) entry in this race — Chub Wagon, with Jeremy Laprida aboard. This three-year-old filly won her single career start.

For comparison, the morning line favorite moneyed nine of her 17 career starts, winning five.

And there are no long-odds entries in this race worth risking a show bet.
