The second all-Brazilian CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores final in two years goes down this Saturday, November 27.

Defending champion Palmeiras takes on 2019 winner Flamengo in Montevideo, Uruguay. The two sides will battle it out for the famous trophy at the iconic Estadio Centenario.

The teams are separated by only a single place in the Serie A standings, with second-place Flamengo sitting just ahead of third-place Palmeiras. Who will come out on top this weekend?

Since then, however, Palmeiras has not been in good form.

Everything appeared to be going to plan when they secured six straight Serie A wins between mid-October and early November. But that hot streak is now firmly in the past.

If the reigning champions want to defend their crown, they will need to rediscover the kind of form that got them to the final.

Funnily enough, Flamengo also registered a 2-2 draw in their last outing. However, it’s safe to say that Flamengo is in a far better place than Palmeiras at the moment.

It is also worth noting that Flamengo is unbeaten in the Copa Libertadores this year. After recording three wins and three draws during the group stage, the Rio de Janeiro club sealed six straight knockout wins.

In fact, Gaucho’s men completely crushed their opponents in the knockouts. They claimed mammoth aggregate victories over Defensa y Justicia (5-1) and Olimpia (9-2) before seeing off Barcelona (4-0) in the semi-finals.

Bruno Henrique (6 goals, 4 assists) and Giorgian de Arrascaeta (4 goals, 7 assists) have starred throughout the 2021 Copa Libertadores. Still, Gabriel Barbosa is Flamengo’s main danger man.

If Gabi is at his best on Saturday, Palmeiras will find it extremely difficult to stop Flamengo.

Palmeiras and Flamengo have already faced each other twice this year. Notably, Flamengo secured all three points on both occasions.

After claiming a 1-0 victory on home soil, Gaucho’s men beat Verdao 3-1 in Sao Paulo – underlining their superiority.

At the end of the day, all the momentum is with Flamengo at the moment. They are enjoying a nine-game unbeaten streak, while Palmeiras is on a four-match winless run.
