| November 25, 2021 12:07 am PDT

The second all-Brazilian CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores final in two years goes down this Saturday, November 27.

Defending champion Palmeiras takes on 2019 winner Flamengo in Montevideo, Uruguay. The two sides will battle it out for the famous trophy at the iconic Estadio Centenario.

The teams are separated by only a single place in the Serie A standings, with second-place Flamengo sitting just ahead of third-place Palmeiras. Who will come out on top this weekend?

This 2021 Copa Libertadores final betting preview contains odds, team analysis, a prediction for Palmeiras vs. Flamengo, and a free betting pick.

2021 Copa Libertadores Final Odds – Palmeiras vs. Flamengo

Palmeiras to Win3.80
The Draw3.30
Flamengo to Win1.91
Both Teams to Score1.85

As you can see, all the top soccer betting sites view Flamengo (1.91) as the favorite to win the 2021 Copa Libertadores final.

Although Palmeiras (3.80) is the reigning champion, there is no denying that Flamengo has outperformed Verdao across all competitions this season.

The high price for the draw bet (3.30) is tempting here, given that we could quite easily see extra-time and/or penalties on Saturday. The Both Teams to Score market (1.85) is also worth considering.

I will share my Palmeiras vs. Flamengo prediction a little later. First, it’s time to analyze the teams.

Palmeiras Team News and Analysis

Abel Ferreira’s men have lost just one of their 12 Copa Libertadores games this season, picking up eight wins and three draws along the way.

They won five of their opening six games to finish six points clear at the top of Group A, scoring a whopping 20 group-stage goals in the process (3.33 goals per game).

In the knockouts, Palmeiras saw off Chilean side Universidad Catolica before overcoming not one, but two fellow Brazilian teams in order to reach the final.

After claiming an impressive 4-1 aggregate victory over Sao Paulo in the quarter-finals, Verdao edged out Atletico Mineiro in the semi-finals – advancing on away goals.

Since then, however, Palmeiras has not been in good form.

Everything appeared to be going to plan when they secured six straight Serie A wins between mid-October and early November. But that hot streak is now firmly in the past.

Ferreira’s men head into Saturday’s showdown on a four-match winless run. Following three successive defeats, they managed to hold Atletico Mineiro to a 2-2 draw in their previous encounter.

If the reigning champions want to defend their crown, they will need to rediscover the kind of form that got them to the final.

Flamengo Team News and Analysis

Funnily enough, Flamengo also registered a 2-2 draw in their last outing. However, it’s safe to say that Flamengo is in a far better place than Palmeiras at the moment.

Renato Gaucho’s men come into the final on a nine-game unbeaten streak, having secured six wins and three draws since their last loss.

It is also worth noting that Flamengo is unbeaten in the Copa Libertadores this year. After recording three wins and three draws during the group stage, the Rio de Janeiro club sealed six straight knockout wins.

In fact, Gaucho’s men completely crushed their opponents in the knockouts. They claimed mammoth aggregate victories over Defensa y Justicia (5-1) and Olimpia (9-2) before seeing off Barcelona (4-0) in the semi-finals.

Talk about booking your place in the final in style!

Bruno Henrique (6 goals, 4 assists) and Giorgian de Arrascaeta (4 goals, 7 assists) have starred throughout the 2021 Copa Libertadores. Still, Gabriel Barbosa is Flamengo’s main danger man.

Gabi has racked up ten goals and four assists in 12 Libertadores appearances this year, adding to his 11 goals and five assists in Serie A.

If Gabi is at his best on Saturday, Palmeiras will find it extremely difficult to stop Flamengo.

Palmeiras vs. Flamengo Prediction and Betting Pick

  • Flamengo to Win

Palmeiras and Flamengo have already faced each other twice this year. Notably, Flamengo secured all three points on both occasions.

After claiming a 1-0 victory on home soil, Gaucho’s men beat Verdao 3-1 in Sao Paulo – underlining their superiority.

Regardless of the recent head-to-head record between these two sides, I still expect Flamengo to triumph on Saturday. After all, the reigning Serie A champs have been immense this year.

At the end of the day, all the momentum is with Flamengo at the moment. They are enjoying a nine-game unbeaten streak, while Palmeiras is on a four-match winless run.

I’m backing the 2019 winners to snatch the Copa Libertadores title from the defending champions.
