OG vs. MIBR – Flashpoint Season 2 Playoffs (December 1, 2020)

The knockout stage of Flashpoint Season 2 begins this week and eight teams are still pursuing their share of the $1,000,000 prize pool. One of the most exciting matches from the first round in the playoffs will be between OG and MIBR.

The Brazilians had some good moments after reshaping their roster, but they are facing one of the best CS:GO squads in the competition next.

I expected a strong start by OG in the tournament, but the squad was demolished by Gen.G in the opening match instead. The good news is that the European side quickly recovered to win the next three encounters and book a place in the knockouts.

OG might have entered Flashpoint Season 2 with some arrogance, but it has quickly disappeared after that early defeat. The squad has looked focused since and certainly is one of the main contenders for the title.

The team’s tactics have been excellent on multiple maps and that made the execution look easy in the group stages. I expect more of the same and I believe that OG will be in top shape because of the $500k prize for the top spot.

Another reason to back the side is the upcoming BLAST Premier: Fall 2020 Finals. OG will have to face the best CS:GO squads in the world there, so gathering some momentum is vital for the team’s ambitions.

It’s really hard to evaluate how strong MIBR is at the present moment. After going through so many changes, we all knew that the Brazilians will struggle initially.

The new boys have looked great at times and the talent is obviously there, but we saw how teams that are strong tactically can exploit MIBR’s lack of experience as a group.

In that sense, I believe that OG is a nightmare opponent for the Brazilian side. It’s the kind of team that has excellent cohesion and a number of prepared plays, so MIBR will have to be on another level tactically to compete.

We didn’t see that against Team Liquid in the Blast Premier: Fall 2020 Showdown recently and I’m afraid the same will happen on Tuesday.

MIBR will need some time to take that last step and put up a fight against the best out there when it matters the most.

I believe that Aleksib’s fine leadership and strategic mind will create a huge advantage for OG against the newly-formed MIBR roster. That’s why backing the favorite to cover the -1.5 handicap at +111 is an excellent betting pick.
