OG vs. Gen.G – Flashpoint Season 2, November 12, 2020

One of the big favorites in Flashpoint Season 2, OG enters the tournament on Thursday. The European team is expected to beat the struggling Gen.G, but I’m sure that the underdog will be hoping for an upset at the start.

The OG vs. Gen.G odds of the best CS:GO betting sites pretty much confirm that the European squad should have the upper hand in this opening clash. There are solid reasons behind that assessment, as you can see from my analysis below.

October was excellent for OG after the team finished second in the IEM Masters XV New York and then proceeded to qualify for the BLAST Premier: Fall 2020 Finals. The team registered a number of prestigious victories against opponents like Na’Vi, G2, Evil Geniuses, and more.

The momentum seemed to have stopped in November, though, because OG lost two matches already. The squad looked sloppy against FaZe and Spirit, so improvement is required.

On the bright side, the competition in Flashpoint Season 2 should be easier to handle, at least on paper. OG is one of the strongest teams in the tournament and the defeats in IEM XV Beijing could be because the focus is on the bigger fish.

The $500,000 prize for the first spot in Flashpoint Season 2 certainly deserves a lot of attention and I expect to see the best of OG in this competition. It’s one of my favorites for the title, as you can see from my post on the Flashpoint Season 2 likely winners.

I’m not sure what to expect from Gen.G in the near future after the team went through various changes. The captain daps left in September to play VALORANT and he was followed by s0m who retired from CS:GO for the same reason.

As it stands, the roster includes only three permanent members and we’ll see Xizt and kreaz as stand-ins for Flashpoint Season 2. It’s hard to expect much from Gen.G under such circumstances and the team has been struggling even before the changes.

I don’t think that the current roster has the talent or chemistry to put up a fight against an opponent like OG, so the start of the tournament could be a disaster.

One of the top teams in the world is about to face a squad that was just assembled. I don’t see how Gen.G can keep it close, so OG should be able to cover the -1.5 handicap with ease. The price of -156 is more than enough for me to back the favorite in this one.
