Best Bets and Predictions for the NHL Games on Tuesday, March 1st, 2022

We only had 3 games to work with yesterday, but today we get a full slate of NHL games. There are 9 great games to watch and bet on for today.

The first games of the day will have the puck drop at 7:00 p.m ET, while the latest games will start at 10:00 p.m ET. That gives us a bunch of action for a Tuesday night and help us get through the week.

We have some of the league’s best teams playing today as well, including the Colorado Avalanche, Tampa Bay Lightning, Carolina Hurricanes, Vegas Golden Knights, and the Boston Bruins.

They have great chances to win any game, but we must decide if they are worth betting on for today. Let’s take a look at the odds that we will be using for today’s NHL action.

So the Lightning, Hurricanes, Avalanche, and Golden Knights are pretty heavy favorites for their matchups. That means that the other games have chances to be very entertaining. I for one will have my eyes on the Calgary Flames vs. the Minnesota Wild.

Both of those teams have the exact odds against each other, which means this game should be very close and could go either way. They did face off last Saturday, with the Flames winning the high scoring matchup 7-3.

These odds will be what we are using for today, as we are searching for great value with high chances of hitting. Let’s get right into my first look predictions of the day.

It would be quite the surprise to see the 19-27-5 Senators beat one of the best teams in the league in the 34-11-6 Lightning. Tampa Bay is 17-4-4 at home, while being a top 10 team in goals, goals allowed, shooting percentage, and shots on goal allowed.

A win for them today should be rather easy, so maybe taking their puck line could be an option here.

I also like the New Jersey and Columbus game to be rather high scoring, so the over bet makes sense here. Columbus’ games hit the over more than any other NHL team, while the over hits the 5th most for Devils’ games.

Edmonton has lost 3 of their past 4 games, but they’ve had some tough competition with the Wild, Lightning, Panthers, and Hurricanes over those 4. Philadelphia will be a much easier team to face than those teams, so a nice bounceback win would be nice for them.

Carolina has been incredible this year and are dominating the Red Wings in basically all of the important stats. In short, the Hurricanes are the best defense in the NHL (1st in Goals allowed, penalty kill percentage), while Detroit is 28th in goals allowed per game.

Calgary beat Minnesota 7-3 in their last matchup, so another win here makes sense. This one might be a bit closer, but I still give the red hot Flames the edge here.

There are a lot of bets that I like today, but these are my top 4 that I’ll go with. Of course, you can always bet as much as you like, so head over to the best NHL betting sites to do so.

New Jersey hasn’t been as good as Columbus this year, but they are hot right now scoring an average of 6 goals per game in their last 3. Columbus has allowed 3+ goals in 7 straight games, so Devils over 2.5 team goals (-160) looks great here too.

I like the Hurricanes puck line today at plus odds as well. Detroit has struggled a bit this year and are the 10th worst team against the spread. Carolina on the other hand is amazing ATS at 37-15, which is second best in the entire league.

Another puck line I like today is the Canadiens. Feel free to avoid this one because they have been straight up bad this year, but they are hot right now. They have won their past 5 games and Winnipeg is a below average team ATS this year as well (11th worst).

Boston has been great recently, winning their last 5 games. They take on the Ducks, who have not been too impressive this year as well. They are on a back to back, but they are so good right now that they shouldn’t be bothered by it too much.
