Betting Predictions and Best NHL Bets – Friday, March 4th, 2022

Welcome back for our NHL predictions for today’s action. Last night was pretty crazy and had some shocking upsets. The Canadiens were able to beat the Flames and the Coyotes beat the Avalanche.
Those were some of the absolute worst teams in the league beating the absolute best teams in the league on the same night. That is a perfect example of how NHL betting and betting in general can be.
We have to stay true to our research and give ourselves the best chance to win and hope our picks come through. Let’s get right into the odds for today’s NHL action.
NHL Odds for Friday, March 4th
- New Jersey Devils (+135) vs. New York Rangers (-155), O/U 6
- Detroit Red Wings (+235) vs. Tampa Bay Lightning (-275), O/U 6.5
- Minnesota Wild (-200) vs. Buffalo Sabres (+170), O/U 6.5
- Los Angeles Kings (-155) vs. Columbus Blue Jackets (+135), O/U 6.5
- Pittsburgh Penguins (+115) vs. Carolina Hurricanes (-135), O/U 6
- Dallas Stars (-110) vs. Winnipeg Jets (-110), O/U 6
- Vegas Golden Knights (-125) vs. Anaheim Ducks (+105), O/U 5.5
Unlike last night, almost all of the games tonight should be pretty close and tough to predict. The Lightning are our heaviest favorite at home against the Red Wings, while all the other favorites are (-200) or higher.
We also have a handful of games that are shaping up to be pretty high scoring as well. We have the Red Wings/Lightning, Wild/Sabres, and Kings/Blue Jackets games all with totals set at 6.5 instead of the usual 6.
Only one game is set a little lower and that’s the last game of the night between the Golden Knights and the Ducks.
If you are liking a certain team’s price already, head on over to BetUS to place your bets for tonight.
Here are my predictions for today’s NHL games.
Top NHL Predictions for Friday Night
- New York Over New Jersey
- Tampa Bay Over Detroit
- Minnesota Over Buffalo
- Kings vs. Blue Jackets Over 6.5 Goals
- Penguins vs. Hurricanes Under 6 Goals
- Stars vs. Jets Under 6 Goals
- Anaheim Over Vegas
New Jersey is 19-30-5 on the year and have lost 4 of their last 6. The Rangers aren’t super hot right now (5 wins in last 8 games), but they could use this game as a nice way to get going.
The Lightning are coming off a tough loss last night to the Penguins (5-1), but they should bounce back tonight. Detroit is decent, but they are a way better home team than they are away.
Buffalo has struggled this year while the Wild have been better. The Sabres surprisingly beat the Maple Leafs 5-1 in their last game, but lost the previous 6 in a row.
The Blue Jackets are the league’s leader in games that hit the over. The Kings should have the upper hand to win, but the over always seems like a solid bet in Columbus games.

I like the under in the Penguins and Canes game due to them playing on a back to back and both teams have great defenses.
The Stars and Jets game seems like an under bet game as well. The Stars have the 5th most under games, while the Jets aren’t too heavy in overs or unders.
The Knights are better than the Ducks, but Anaheim can sneak out a win tonight. They are stronger at home and Vegas had to play the Bruins last night. Vegas will also have their backup goalie in tonight.
Best Bets for the NHL Games on 3/4/2022
- New York Rangers to Win (-155)
- Carolina Hurricanes to Win (-135)
- Blue Jackets Over 2.5 Team Goals (-145)
- Anaheim Ducks +1.5 (-245)
I normally go with three recommended best bets, but today I like 4. The Ducks puck line is not super great odds wise, but I think it has a very high chance of hitting tonight. Anaheim is tied for the most wins against the spread this year (33-22) and are also tied for first at home too (17-11).
Vegas is solid on the road, but overall their spread record is not great (23-31). I like the Ducks to keep it close tonight, but it also makes sense to take their moneyline if you want better odds. The Knights are also on a back to back, so that could make it harder for them to pull away from the Ducks.
The Devils have struggled this year overall and on the road (8-17-2). They are also going with their backup goalie tonight in Jon Gillies, so the Rangers could look to have a good night on offense.
The Canes have a tougher matchup against the Penguins, but both teams are on a back to back. I think home ice is very important if both teams are facing the same issue here.

Columbus is coming off 2 days of rest off while the Kings have had just one. They are on their home ice and can rattle off 3 goals against the Kings.
