Best Underdogs for Week 16 of the NFL Season

| December 21, 2021 9:49 pm PDT

Underdog betting is always something you must consider when betting on any sport. The NFL is no different in that case. We have seen so many upsets so far this season and this week is sure to have more.

There are always those crazy games like last week’s Sunday Night game. The Saints beat Tom Brady again and this time held him and the Bucs to zero points. A $100 bet on the Saints moneyline (+400) on that game would have won you $400 in profits.

Let’s see if we can predict the upset winners for this week of NFL action with odds from BetOnline.

Jacksonville Jaguars (+120)

I know you don’t really want to bet on the Jaguars, but would you rather bet on the Jets? The bad man (Urban Meyer) is gone in Jacksonville and maybe that was the spark they needed to get their third win of the season.

I doubt the Jaguars are tanking because they already have their franchise quarterback in Trevor Lawrence, so a win would be great for them. The Jets are a very beatable team and the Jags can use a win.

The Jets have allowed the most points, rushing yards, and rushing touchdowns so far this season. They also have the worst defense in terms of Expected Points contributed by the defense (-159.45) according to Pro Football Reference.

The Jaguars are at their “best” when they run behind James Robinson. He should be able to have a big game and could likely carry them to victory.

Neither team here is good, but you have to take a look at value in any bet. The Jaguars are underdogs, but the Jets aren’t too deserving of the favorite title in any game.

Buffalo Bills (+115)

The Bills have a very tough task this week as they take on the Patriots for the second time in 4 weeks. They did lose 14-10 to them in Week 13, but the weather played a major role in that game. This time out should be different and is sure to feature a higher scoring game.

Mac Jones was exposed in the first half against the Colts last week and the Bills should look at how. He threw two first half interceptions, which was a big reason why the Colts were able to win.

Jones is still a rookie and will make mistakes, but you have to force him to throw the ball. If the Patriots are able to run on you, they can hide Jones and his potential rookie mistakes. That is a big reason why the Patriots were able to win the last time they played.

The Bills are definitely a good enough team to beat anyone in the league. They can do exactly that this week and prove themselves to be worthy of their “Super Bowl contender” title coming into this season.

This is a huge game in terms of AFC East seeding because the Bills can tie the Patriots for first with a win this week.

Baltimore Ravens (+115)

The Ravens have played some risky football in the past couple weeks. They are on a 3 game losing streak, but all 3 of their losses have been less than 3 points. They went for the win with two point conversions against the Steelers and the Packers and weren’t able to convert.

It would be interesting to see if the Ravens would be an underdog for this game if they were able to beat the Packers without Lamar Jackson. Either way, they have a chance to be a very valuable bet for this week against the Bengals.

A lot of people will be betting on the Bengals because of their last game in Week 7. The Bengals dominated that game and won 41-17, but not all games are the same. It doesn’t matter that the Bengals won the first time out, because the Ravens can very well beat them by the same margin this time around.

When the Ravens are at their best, they are one of the very top teams in the AFC. They are banged up, but so is everybody else at this point in the season. They are tied for first in the AFC North with the Bengals at 8-6 and this is a huge game for them.

The playoffs start now for the Ravens and the Bengals haven’t won a playoff game in a while. Either way, this is going to be a very fun game to watch and could come down to the wire.

Denver Broncos

The odds for the Broncos game is not out yet, but they are currently 1 point underdogs. Their moneyline price should be released soon, as they get ready for their game against the Raiders.

This will be the second time these two teams faced off this season. The first game didn’t go so well for the Broncos (lost 24-34), but this time can be different. The biggest x-factor from this game is going to be the quarterback for the Denver Broncos.

Teddy Bridgewater suffered a scary head injury that forced him to stay overnight in a hospital. He is highly unlikely to be ready to start this week for the Broncos, so they will turn to Drew Lock.

Lock has starting experience for the Broncos, but he hasn’t been exactly good. Luckily for the Broncos, they don’t need to rely on him too much to get a win. Most of the heavy lifting will be done by the defense and the rushing attack.

The Broncos running back have been carrying their offense and can do so again this week against the Raiders. Las Vegas allows the 8th most rushing yards per game coming into this one. They also almost lost to the Browns last week who were with tons of starters and were on their 3rd string quarterback.

The Broncos’ defense is what keeps them in games and they can do so in this one. They can hold the Raiders to another poor outing scoring-wise and give themselves a chance to win. If they get a lead, they can run the ball effectively and avoid passing the ball with Drew Lock.
