NFL Predictions and Best Bets for Week 9 Contests

The NFL is as volatile as it gets for sports bettors. One week you look like a genius, the next you look like you’ve never picked a game in your life.
I know the New York Jets had to win at some point, but two wins already, and both coming against good teams in the Titans and Bengals? That just goes to show you that NFL teams can’t sleep on anyone, and neither should bettors.
If you’re looking for some free NFL picks, you’ve come to the right place. Before week nine gets rolling, I’ll offer my prediction for every game, and cap things off with my favorite bets.
Colts Over Texans
Week nine gets the ball rolling on Thursday Night Football, where the Colts host the Jets. New York now has two wild wins under their belt, but they’re on the road on a short week.
We also get to see if the Mike White Show is for real.
No surprise after today, but Jets’ HC Robert Saleh says Mike White will start at QB on Thursday vs. the Colts.

There is even talk that White could remain the starter for the Jets if he plays well again. That’s a bit baffling considering the franchise’s investment in Zach Wilson, but this is the Jets we’re talking about.
Another solid outing by White wouldn’t be that shocking, as Indy has given up over 2,000 passing yards already on the year. However, this is a good spot for them defensively, and Jonathan Taylor should be able to dominate this Jets defense.
Browns Over Bengals
Looking for an upset special in week nine? Don’t dismiss the Browns. I know they’re in turmoil with Odell Beckham Jr.’s dad ruffling feathers, but this is still a well-coached team.
Baker Mayfield has been hurt and Cleveland has struggled offensively, but they can still control the clock and run the football. They’ve also been much better on defense lately.
If Nick Chubb can get it going early and Mayfield avoids back-breaking mistakes, the Browns may be able to do just enough to save their 2021 season.
Cowboys Over Broncos
Dak Prescott took the week off last game, and the Cowboys still won. I’d expect to see the star Cowboys passer back in action here, and there’s little doubt he finds success against the Broncos.
After all, Denver traded away their best pass rusher when they shipped Von Miller off to L.A.
Dallas has little to fear here, as Denver appears to be waving the white flag on the 2021 campaign. Many were crowning the ‘Boys as one of the best teams in the NFL, anyways, and this is an extremely winnable game for them.

- Saints Over Falcons
- Raiders Over Giants
- Patriots Over Panthers
- Bills Over Jaguars
- Ravens Over Vikings
- Chargers Over Eagles
- Chiefs Over Packers
- Cardinals Over 49ers
- Rams Over Titans
- Steelers Over Bears
If you just want quick and free NFL picks for week nine, here you go. I don’t think we need to get cute in the obvious spots. Week nine gives Miami their best shot at a win in a while, the Bills are massive favorites over the Jags, and I’m not trusting Tennessee sans their meal ticket (Derrick Henry).
I like KC to get positive momentum going at home with a huge statement game against Green Bay, the Chargers should snap a two-game skid against the Eagles, and the Raiders will drown out the noise of Henry Ruggs’ unfortunate accident.
It’s the NFL, so things can always get wonky. If you want some stability this week, be sure to check out Anthony Haage’s safest NFL picks for week nine.
Best Bets to Target in the NFL This Week
- Texans vs. Dolphins Over 46 (-107)
- Chargers (-1) -124
- Chiefs (PK) -115
You can roll with my week nine NFL predictions if you want. It’ll only get you so far, though. The Bills are disgusting -1050 favorites at the top NFL betting sites, and a lot of my other NFL picks have thick moneylines.
My best week nine NFL bets above look like good value plays. Houston has given up 241 points on the year, while Miami has been terrible defensively. The offenses can be suspect, but 46 feels really low for a game with very little reliable defense.
L.A. has to stop the bleeding. The spread is way too tight, as BetOnline and other sportsbooks are giving the Eagles way too much respect. I also love the Chiefs at home. The price will change from what you see now, but I like them to win and they’ll probably cover, too.
I know Patrick Mahomes and co. haven’t looked good lately, but they’re too talented to keep losing. They also have the luxury of facing Jordan Love instead of Aaron Rodgers, so I’d hope on them as soon as possible.
