Best Value Picks for NFL DFS at DraftKings in Week 16 – Trevor Lawrence and More

| December 21, 2021 12:00 pm PDT

NFL DFS was disrupted by COVID-19 more than usual last week. Toss in a wacky schedule, and daily fantasy football – and fantasy football in general – has been a bit of a nightmare.

It’s still fun and can be profitable, but if it’s become a bit too erratic, you can always head over to the best NFL betting sites and place some bets.

Still game for some NFL DFS action? Then join me as I unearth some NFL DFS sleepers to target at DraftKings for week 16.

Trevor Lawrence, QB, Jaguars ($5k)

Lawrence made my second wave of fantasy football sleepers last week. I had to fight back the vomit. I still have nausea going into week 16, but Lawrence is looking at perhaps his best matchup yet.

It’s true that Lawrence has been awful as a rookie. However, the dark cloud that is Urban Meyer no longer lurks, and this week he faces a terrible Jets defense.

Check out New York’s ranks against the pass in 2021.

  • 6th most fantasy points allowed to QBs
  • 7th most yards allowed to QBs
  • 13th most TDs allowed to QBs

Lawrence has done very little to promote confidence, and has scored zero touchdowns in his last three games. As bad as it’s been, a date with the Jets just might fix that.

If only for one week, Lawrence looks like a viable fantasy football sleeper in NFL DFS circles. Nick Sterling loves the prospects for Jacksonville rusher James Robinson this week, so perhaps J-Rob’s likely big day has something to do with Lawrence.

Week 16 Fantasy Football Guide (2021) – Start/Sit, Sleepers, and More

Week 15 marked the opening round of the fantasy football playoffs, but we also saw many big-name players go down with injuries. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had three players alone, while Joe Mixon also left early. As of this writing, Week 15 has a few games...

Ronald Jones, RB, Buccaneers ($5.1k)

The Buccaneers are in a bad way. Three big names went down during their woeful shutout loss last week, and they’re suddenly scraping the bottom of the barrel for help.

Luckily, their barrel is loaded due to their insane depth.

One of the big names that could miss week 16 is Leonard Fournette. Playoff Lenny would open a sizable hole for Tampa Bay’s rushing attack, but former starter RoJo could easily step up and smash.

He literally has in the past, after all.

I’d expect exactly that, as Jones gets a solid matchup against the Panthers, who have given up the 10th most rushing yards in again 2021.

Scotty Miller, WR, Buccaneers ($3.6k)

The Bucs are in much bigger trouble at wide receiver. Things are so bad, in fact, that the team has welcomed back the controversial Antonio Brown.

Mike Evans may not play this week, while Chris Godwin is out for the year with a torn ACL.

It is unclear just yet who will be starting for the Bucs come week 16, but one guy to keep an eye on is the speedy Miller.

He’s no lock to have a massive role, but he’s dirt cheap. If he starts, he could be a smash play as one of Tom Brady’s go-to receivers.

Noah Gray, TE, Chiefs ($2.5k)

Another team dealing with some issues is Kansas City. The Chiefs learned that star tight end Travis Kelce had COVID-19, so his week 16 status is suddenly in doubt.

Kelce still has plenty of time to return to the active roster, but if he’s out, Gray could feast.

Obviously the Chiefs could target Tyreek Hill like crazy and/or run the ball more, but Gray would see an expanded role by default.

New England Patriots Defense ($2.9k)

The Patriots took a step back as a whole in week 15, but they’ve been too good to be this cheap.

New England still allows the fewest points per game on the season, and they shut the Bills down the last time they faced them.

The Pats have largely been vulnerable against elite running teams, and the Bills don’t bring that to the table. BetOnline has this game set up with an ugly 43 game total, so another defensive battle could be in the cards.

If so, the Pats are entirely too cheap, and feel like a potential core play for week 16 NFL DFS lineups.

More NFL DFS Sleepers for Week 16

  • Tim Boyle, QB, Lions ($4k)
  • Michael Carter, RB, Jets ($5.2k)
  • Laviska Shenault Jr., WR, Jaguars ($4.1k)
  • Zach Gentry, TE, Steelers ($2.8k)
  • Chicago Bears Defense ($2.5k)

This is a pretty good week for saving some salary. If you aren’t in love with my top daily fantasy football sleepers, perhaps this next line of value picks suits your fancy.

They’re all in play, as Boyle could start for a sick Jared Goff, Gentry may see most of the snaps at tight end for Pittsburgh, Carter may be back to a featured role, and Shenault Jr. could benefit from a favorable matchup.

Chicago’s defense is also too cheap. A date with Seattle isn’t a cakewalk, but the Bears have continued to look good on defense.

Overall, these week 16 NFL DFS sleepers should save you some cash. If you need help with how to start your lineups, check out my week 16 NFL DFS picks.
