Newcastle United vs. Everton – EPL, November 1, 2020
Newcastle is probably one of the more unpredictable EPL clubs – on and off the pitch. You never really know how Steve Bruce’s team is going to perform.
But it will have to be on top form on Sunday, as Everton is in town, looking to come back from a disappointing defeat at the hands of Southampton last week.
Here’s my Newcastle vs. Everton prediction and pick for what could be an intriguing clash.
Newcastle United vs. Everton Latest Odds
The sportsbooks still have faith in Everton to come away from the northeast with all three points. But there are a number of absentees through injury and suspension and that might just give Newcastle some confidence in being able to take a least a point from this one at home.
Newcastle vs. Everton Match Preview
Newcastle was hardly involved in its game with Wolves last week but still somehow managed to come away from Molineux with a point after Jacob Murphy scored a very late equalizer. Steve Bruce would want his players to get going a little earlier, but that was a great result for Newcastle.
Now it faces an Everton side that is already looking a little out of steam for one reason or another. Newcastle has injury problems of its own but should be able to put out a strong starting eleven on Sunday – and one that could pose a threat if it gets going early on.
Carlo Ancelotti looked a little less calm during Everton’s loss to Southampton last weekend than he had previously this season. It was the first time that Dominic Calvert-Lewin looked isolated – and that might have a lot to do with the absence of Richarlison. He is suspended for this game too and Everton never plays quite as well when the Brazilian international is missing.
James Rodriguez might not be completely back to full fitness either, so this may be another week where the league leaders don’t look quite as world beating as they have done in the opening weeks of the season. Ancelotti will also be hoping that Jordan Pickford stops making so many errors in goal as well.
Newcastle vs. Everton Betting Pick
I am certainly not suggesting that Everton has already peaked this season. But I do think that this game will be far closer than the bookmakers seem to think. The Toffees are without some very important players and Pickford is beginning to look like a liability in goal. Newcastle can play well when it really concentrates. So a draw might be the final outcome.
