Newcastle United vs. Aston Villa Odds, Prediction and Pick – English Premier League, March 12

| March 9, 2021 7:46 am PDT

Both these sides were involved in goalless draws at the weekend that did little to help with their respective aims for the rest of the season.

But it is Newcastle that is in more need of the points, as it enters the final stretch of the campaign only a point ahead of the relegation places. A win on Friday would certainly put the pressure back on its rivals.

Aston Villa to Win-103

BetOnline makes Aston Villa the odds on favorite to return from St James’ Park with all three points. Anyone thinking of going for the more attractive prices here will be hoping that Villa continues to struggle without the creativity of Jack Grealish – and that Newcastle can actually score some goals without its three best attacking players.

Newcastle United vs. Aston Villa Match Preview

Steve Bruce did his best to explain that a 0-0 draw with West Brom last weekend can be looked at as a good result – and in a way it is, as it means that the Baggies are no closer to Newcastle in the league table. But it did allow Fulham to gain more confidence in its quest to climb out of the bottom three. That would probably be at Newcastle’s expense.

With Callum Wilson, Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin all out, it was not surprising that Newcastle couldn’t find the net at The Hawthorns. But those three will all be missing once again and Bruce will look to misfiring Brazilian striker Joelinton to provide the firepower on Friday. It could be another frustrating game for Newcastle fans.

Villa will more than likely be missing its own talisman as well though. Jack Grealish seems set to be out for a fifth consecutive fixture – a run of games that has brought just four points for Dean Smith’s team. There are still some very good players in the squad though, so a win here will be expected.

Ollie Watkins is looking very good up front – and seems to be adapting well to the Premier League now – and the Villa defense is very tight in front of in form Emiliano Martinez. But there is definitely a big hole left by the absence of Grealish. Maybe this will be the game when Villa overcome that and record a convincing result?

Newcastle United vs. Aston Villa Prediction and Pick

  • Aston Villa to Win

There is no doubt that Villa has looked remarkably weakened with Grealish orchestrating the game in the middle of the pitch. But Newcastle is in a perilous position – and missing players that are vital to its chances of staying up this season. Villa should be able to ease to a comfortable victory on Friday without the need of its most important player.
