New York Red Bulls vs. Orlando City – MLS, May 29, 2021

| May 28, 2021 5:21 am PDT

Along with Nashville, Orlando City remains unbeaten in the Eastern Conference this season, having picked up three wins and three draws from their opening six matches.

On the flip side, the Red Bulls have lost four of their six games and already find themselves six points behind this Lions in the standings.

Can RBNY close the gap when the two sides clash in Harrison on Saturday, May 29? Or will Oscar Pareja’s men maintain their impressive unbeaten record?

Keep reading to find my New York Red Bulls vs. Orlando City prediction and betting pick.

New York Red Bulls vs. Orlando City Odds

New York Red Bulls to Win2.30

Orlando City to Win3.00

Regardless of Orlando’s hot streak, the MLS oddsmakers view RBNY as the favorite to claim all three points on Saturday. That said, the price for the home win isn’t small.

Given that Pareja’s men have yet to taste defeat this year, the attractive odds for the away win and the draw bet are definitely worth considering here.

Let’s take a closer look at the teams.

Will RBNY Return to Winning Ways?

The Red Bulls kicked off their campaign with back-to-back losses against Sporting KC and the LA Galaxy before securing two straight wins over Chicago and Toronto.

But just as things were starting to look up for Gerhard Struber’s men, they returned to losing ways against Philadelphia.

To make matters worse, the Revs crushed RBNY 3-1 last weekend. New England racked up 23 shots (11 on target) at Gillette Stadium, while the Red Bulls only managed to notch three attempts on target.

It appears that Struber’s team has some disciplinary issues, too.

Following Dru Yearwood’s red card in the loss to Philly, Andres Reyes was sent off against the Revs – meaning RBNY has seen two red cards in the space of two games.

Only three teams in the East have scored more goals than the Red Bulls this season (8). However, they currently have one of the worst defensive records in the conference (9).

Can Orlando Remain Unbeaten in 2021?

If the Lions’ early-season performances are anything to go by, they look set to enjoy a hugely successful campaign.

Not only have Pareja’s men avoided defeat so far this year, but they also boast the best defensive record in the Eastern Conference, having conceded just two goals in six matches.

Orlando drew three of their opening four games, as well as beating Cincinnati 3-0. But following 1-0 victories over DC United and Toronto, the Florida club heads into Week 7 on the back of two straight wins.

Better still, the Lions have already kept four clean sheets in 2021 – giving them a shutout rate of almost 70%.

At the other end of the field, ex-Manchester United star Nani has scored three goals in five appearances, while Tesho Akindele has two goals and one assist to his name this season.

My Red Bulls vs. Orlando Betting Pick

  • Orlando City to Win

Orlando City is looking like the real deal this year. The Lions showed everyone glimpses of what they are capable of last season, and they have continued to enhance their growing reputation in 2021.

Meanwhile, the Red Bulls haven’t found their feet this term. Having lost four of their opening six matches, I expect them to suffer a fifth defeat of the season when Orlando comes to town.
