New York Knicks vs. San Antonio Spurs – NBA Pick and Prediction for December 7th (2021)

The New York Knicks are heading to the west coast to take on the San Antonio Spurs this Tuesday. Both teams are under .500 on the year, but are looking to get back in the groove. This should be a close game, as both teams have shown inconsistencies and have been tough to rely on.
With that being said, let’s break down this matchup and find out which bet we should place for this game.
Odds for Knicks vs. Spurs
The Knicks will be coming into this game as the favorite on the road. San Antonio has been one of the better teams against the spread at home for this season at 6-4. On the other side, the Knicks are exactly the same ATS as the road team (6-4).
With only three games to bet on this Tuesday, our options are slim. Not everyone is dying to place a bet on the Spurs or Knicks, but there is still money to be made here.
These two teams are comparable opposites of each other. The Knicks rank 14th in Offensive Rating, while ranking 22nd in Defensive Rating. The Spurs on the other hand rank 10th in Defensive Rating and 23rd in Offensive Rating. This could be a tight game, so make sure you read on before you place your bets.

Why the Knicks Will Win
The Knicks are the favorite for this game for a reason. They have been slightly better on the year than the Spurs and are certainly capable of winning this game. Yes, they are on a 3 game losing streak, but they could snap their streak here.

Julius Randle is the centerpiece to their team. He is a huge part of their offense and should be the main reason why they win a good amount of games. He is averaging just over 20 points with 10 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.
They have some other players who can chip in as well. R.J Barrett, Evan Fournier, and Derrick Rose are all capable of contributing to their team. All three are averaging over 10 points per game as additional role players for the Knicks.
The Knicks play pretty well on the road as well. They are 6-4 ATS as the away team on the year, but are also 3-1 straight up as the road favorite, which they are in this one.
Why the Spurs Will Win
The Spurs are capable of an upset here. Gregg Popovich is one of the winningest coaches in NBA history and you can never count him out. His team this season does not have the fire power it used to, but they have some capable players.
They are on a solid 4 game winning streak and it is not like they have played easy opponents. They beat the Warriors (19-4), Trail Blazers (11-13), Wizards (14-10), and Celtics (13-11) for a very impressive stretch.
A rising star in today’s league is Spurs point guard Dejuante Murray. He has been impressive this season and his season averages (19.1 points, 8.2 assists, 8.6 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game). He can have another strong outing against the Knicks and take advantage of their weaker defense.

The rest of the lineup has been underwhelming, as no one else in their lineup averages more than 15 points per game. I would credit that to a lot of their players being very young in their career. They are the 5th youngest team in the NBA, as Murray is just 25, Keldon Johnson is 21, and Jakob Poeltl is 25.
They may be another couple years away from deep runs in the playoffs, but these young players are looking to take a step in the right direction for their career. This game against the Knicks is a chance for them to prove themselves in their young careers.
My Prediction for Knicks vs. Spurs
The Knicks will be desperate to get off their 3 game skid, but the Spurs have been impressive in their last 4 games. I am going to ride the hot hand in the Spurs +3.5. Although the Knicks have been good on the road, a cross country trip might be tough on them.
The Spurs play faster (5th in Pace) than the Knicks (25th in Pace), which will make it hard for the Knicks to build a substantial lead. In what should be a close game, I am going to have to take the points here for the hotter team.
Poppovich is sure to have a plan to slow down Randle, forcing the other Knicks to step it up. That could give them a strong chance at winning this game and an even stronger chance to cover the spread.
