New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins Betting – NFL Week 6, 2020

The New York Jets head to Hard Rock Stadium this Sunday to take on the Miami Dolphins in Week 6 of the 2020 NFL season. 

The hapless Jets are winless and should be fired up to snap their skid in this AFC East showdown. On the other side, the Dolphins are 2-3 and will look for their first home victory in 2020.

I’ve prepared the latest odds update along with my best Jets vs. Dolphins betting pick for Week 6, so let’s take a closer look.

I’m shocked to see the Dolphins as 8-point favorites. The Jets have been terrible thus far, but this is the biggest spread in the Jets vs. Dolphins duel since 2005 when Miami beat New York 24-20 as an 8.5-point home favorite.

The Jets are riding a five-game losing streak following a 30-10 home loss to the Arizona Cardinals this past Sunday. Also, the Jets are 0-5 against the spread, telling you enough how bad they are this season.

New York met some tough teams in 2020, but that’s just an excuse for some really poor displays. The Jets are scoring the fewest points per game in the league (15.0) while posting the fewest passing yards per contest (176.0).

On the other side of the ball, they are yielding a whopping 32.2 points (30^th in the NFL) on 394.2 total yards per game (25^th).

The Jets are without their starting QB, as Sam Darnold is considered week-to-week due to a shoulder injury. Joe Flacco started under center in Week 5 and should get another chance in Week 6 if Darnold remains on the sidelines.

Le’Veon Bell returned from a hamstring injury last weekend, posting 13 carries for 60 yards.

The Dolphins exploded in Week 5, thrashing of the San Francisco 49ers 43-17 as 8-point road underdogs. They humiliated the reigning vice-champs, racking up 436 total yards while surrendering only 259 in return.

Furthermore, the Phins recorded a couple of interceptions and recovered a fumble. Their offense spent almost 37 minutes on the field, and Miami scored 30 first-half points.

Ryan Fitzpatrick tossed for 350 yards and three touchdowns, taking full advantage of the Niners’ secondary that showed some huge flaws. The Dolphins are now scoring 27.2 points per game (13^th in the NFL) while allowing just 22.6 in return (9^th).

The Dolphins have dominated the Jets over the last few years. Last season, these two AFC East foes split their two encounters, but the Phins are 6-2 SU and 6-1-1 ATS in their previous eight matchups with the Jets.

I don’t feel comfortable with an 8-point spread, so buying a couple of points would help me to take the Dolphins. While the Jets’ defense is falling apart, the Phins look like a well-organized team. Miami had a clear game plan in each outing this term, and I expect to see more of the same in Week 6.

The Dolphins tortured the Niners defensively, so the Jets’ lousy offensive line will have a mountain to climb at Hard Rock Stadium. Also, I expect to see another solid performance by Miami’s offense, and hopefully, that will be enough for a comfortable win by a touchdown, at least.
