New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys – NFL, October 11, 2020
The first meeting of the season between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys is set for Sunday, October 11, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and both teams will come in a bad mood.
The Giants are winless after the first four weeks, playing without Saquon Barkley who’s done for the season due to a knee injury. On the other side, the Cowboys are 1-3 straight up and 0-4 ATS, playing the worst defense you’ll ever see.
Sunday’s clash in Arlington will see a couple of divisional foes desperately trying to break out of their funk, so here’s my best Giants vs. Cowboys betting pick for Week 5 of the 2020 NFL season.
Giants vs. Cowboys Odds
|Giants to Win||+345|
|Cowboys to Win||-425|
The Cowboys are massive -425 moneyline favorites, and if you’re looking for a parlay or teaser, they should be on your list.
Dallas is undefeated in six straight meetings with the Giants, covering on all six occasions. Despite all their defensive problems, the Boys deserve to be listed as firm favorites here.
New York Giants
The Giants will have a tall task even when they face off against the Cowboys’ defensive unit. New York has the lowest-scoring offense in football by far, averaging a paltry 11.8 points per game.
The Giants are 31st in the league in rushing yards per game (76.5) and 29th in passing yards per contest (201.5). Daniel Jones tossed for 889 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but he’s already committed seven turnovers (five picks and two fumbles).
On the other side of the ball, the Giants are surprisingly doing a solid job. They allow 24.0 points per game (12th in the NFL) on 328.3 total yards (5th). Also, the Giants are tied-eighth with 10 sacks through Week 4.
Last Sunday, the Giants battled bravely against the LA Rams on the road. They lost 17-9 as 13.5-point underdogs, and the Giants blew a huge opportunity down the stretch, as Jones threw an interception at the five-yard line with 52 seconds left on the clock.
In my previous preview, I called Dallas’ defense a joke. Two weeks ago, they allowed five TD passes to Russell Wilson, leaving Tyler Lockett all alone in the end zone on two occasions. Last weekend, the Cowboys yielded 49 points against the Cleveland Browns at home, tallying their second straight loss.
After the first four weeks of the 2020 NFL season, Dallas is dead last in points allowed per game (36.5). Also, the Cowboys’ defense is 31st in rushing yards allowed (172.5) and 23rd in passing yards surrendered per contest (258.0).
Seattle showed us how to beat Dallas through the air. Cleveland showed how to dismantle the Boys on the ground, racking up a whopping 307 rushing yards.
On the other hand, the Cowboys are scoring 31.5 points per game (3rd in the NFL) on 509.5 total yards (1st). Dak Prescott threw for 502 yards against Cleveland, becoming the first player in NFL history with three consecutive 450-yard outings.
Giants vs. Cowboys Pick
This should be a great chance for Dallas’ defense to regroup and finally start producing something good for this Cowboys team. On the other side of the ball, they shouldn’t have too many problems to beat the Giants, although New York’s defense has been improving since the opening week.
Also, the Cowboys should finally take a balanced approach offensively and give some totes to Ezekiel Elliott instead of throwing the ball around all the time.
The Giants will score some points, but their offense is the worst in the league for a reason. Therefore, I expect the Cowboys to win this game comfortably by at least a touchdown. These two teams know each other very well, and the Cowboys should know how to prove on the field that they are a much better team than the Giants.
Dallas Cowboys -6.5-160
