New York City vs. New England Revolution Betting Preview – MLS, October 11, 2020

Fifth-place New York City hosts sixth-place New England at Yankee Stadium on Sunday, October 11, with four points separating the teams in the Eastern Conference.
The Boys in Blue secured a third straight victory in midweek as they crushed struggling DC United 4-1, while the Revs’ four-game unbeaten run was ended by a narrow defeat to Toronto FC.
This is destined to be a closely-fought contest between two evenly-matched sides. Read on to see my New York City vs. New England Revolution prediction and betting pick.
New York City vs. New England Revolution Odds
With home advantage and a four-point lead over the Revs, New York City is the rightful favorite to win this one. The best online soccer betting sites aren’t giving New England much of a chance, but I can see this being a tight game.
NYC and New England are both low-scoring teams, but they don’t concede many goals, either. At first glance, the price for the draw stands out to me, although NYC’s winning streak is difficult to ignore.
Match Preview
There is no denying that New York City is one of the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference right now. Not only have Ronny Deila’s men secured three straight victories, but they have also lost just one of their previous ten outings, claiming seven wins along the way.
For a low-scoring team, NYC has been lethal in attack recently. Indeed, the Boys in Blue have scored over 2.5 goals in each of their previous three games. Alexandru Mitrita netted a double in the victories over FC Cincinnati (4-0) and Inter Miami (3-2). But with the Romanian away on international duty, Ismael Tajouri was the star of the show in midweek.
Tajouri bagged a brace as NYC trashed DC United 4-1, with Valentin Castellanos and Keaton Parks also getting on the scoresheet. Deila’s men are seemingly unstoppable at the moment, but New England will certainly give them a run for their money.
The Revs were beaten by Toronto on Wednesday, although it’s fair to say they were extremely unfortunate not to have come away with anything to show for their efforts. Bruce Arena’s men dominated possession (60%) and recorded far more shots than the Canadians (13-6), but they eventually lost 1-0 to the conference leader.
Still, Arena will no doubt be very happy with his side’s recent efforts. Victories over Montreal Impact (3-1) and DC United (2-0) came in the middle of a four-game unbeaten run across late September and early October, so the head coach won’t be too disappointed with the narrow loss to Toronto.
Following an iffy start to the season, the Greater Boston club is in good shape. Only three teams in the Eastern Conference have scored fewer goals than New England, so creating more chances will surely be a priority. However, the Revs’ defensive record is bettered only by the Columbus Crew.
My Betting Pick
-
The Draw3.70
New England’s recent four-game unbeaten run started with a goalless draw against New York City last month, and I can see the teams producing a similar scoreline this time around.
Both sides boast a modest goal difference, with both managers placing emphasis on their backlines. I’m expecting NYC to dominate proceedings, but I’m confident the Revs can hold out for a draw.
