New England Revolution vs. Nashville SC – MLS, October 3, 2020

| September 28, 2020 2:00 am PDT

Two of the Eastern Conference’s in-form teams clash on Saturday, October 3, with New England welcoming Nashville to Gillette Stadium. Both sides have lost just one of their last five games, so this is set to be an intriguing matchup.

Back-to-back victories have seen the Revs open up a five-point lead over Nashville, although the Tennessee club has played a game less. Can Nashville make their game in hand count and close the gap?

Read on to see my New England Revolution vs. Nashville SC prediction and betting pick.

Latest Betting Odds

New England Revolution to Win 2.00
The Draw 3.30
Nashville SC to Win 3.60

New England heads into this tie as the online sportsbooks’ favorite. However, Nashville’s recent run of results has definitely impacted the bookies’ odds for this game.

Considering the Revs are the hosts on Saturday, odds of 2.00 for the home win seem very generous. But with Nashville on the rise, I also like the look of the prices for the draw and the away win.

Match Preview

It is no secret that New England made a slow start to 2020. Despite going unbeaten in the MLS is Back Tournament group stage, Bruce Arena’s side only managed to win one of their opening six regular-season games.

But following a shaky start, it feels like the Revs have found their feet. The team kicked off their revival with a victory over Chicago Fire before securing an impressive draw against New York City. Recent wins over Montreal Impact and DC United mean that New England now has the opportunity to seal three straight victories for the very first time this season.

Captain Gustavo Bou has led by example of late. The Argentine scored in each of the Revs’ previous two wins, so Nashville will need to keep him quiet.

Like New England, Nashville also struggled to get going this year. However, the Tennessee club is competing in their maiden MLS campaign, so it was always going to take time for the team to settle.

After managing just one win in their first six games, Nashville has only lost one of their previous seven. Victories over Inter Miami, Atlanta United, and DC have propelled the club up the standings, with the club’s only recent defeat coming against conference-leader Columbus Crew.

Gary Smith’s men don’t score many goals. In fact, only FC Cincinnati has netted fewer goals in the Eastern Conference this year. But the newcomer’s defensive efforts have been hugely impressive. Nashville currently sits ninth, but only four teams above them boast a better defensive record.

Prediction and Betting Pick

  • New England Revolution to Win

Nashville is showing signs of developing into a solid MLS regular, but it’s important to remember the team still has a lot to learn. Smith’s side has picked up some eye-catching results recently, but New England will be a very tough opponent.

The Revs will be desperate to secure three straight victories this weekend. With that in mind, odds of 2.00 for the home win seem too good to miss.
