The New England Patriots suffered the fourth consecutive defeat as they fell short to the divisional rivals Buffalo Bills, but will have a perfect opportunity to return to the winning ways in a clash with the Jets on Monday. New England now dropped to a 2-5 record and is four wins behind the Bills in the AFC East. After decades of dominance and 17 of the past 19 AFC East titles, it looks the Pats are not going to win the division this time around.

The New York Jets, on the other hand, are still the only winless side in the NFL, and they will also have extra motivation to beat the struggling Patriots on Monday. With the way the Pats are playing right now, the hosts will definitely have a chance to do it, which would be the Jets’ first win over New England since 2015. Following an expected road loss to the reigning champions Kansas City Chiefs, the Jets dropped to a 0-8 record. Here is my Patriots vs. Jets betting preview.

Odds for Patriots vs. Jets

Patriots -7-110
Jets +7-110
Patriots to win-323
Jets to win+275
Over 41-110
Under 41-110

Patriots Fell Short in Buffalo

The New England Patriots displayed the best performance in weeks, especially on offense, but still were left empty-handed against the Buffalo Bills in a 24-21 loss. They were always trailing in the game but managed to tie it up at 21-21 with ten minutes to go. However, Tyler Bass scored a game-winning field goal for the Bills with four minutes remaining, and Cam Newton and co. were unable to respond.

Newton completed 15 of 25 passes for 174 yards, while he added 54 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Damien Harris displayed a game of his career as he led all the runners with 102 yards and a TD on 16 attempts, while Jakobi Meyers contributed through the air with 58 yards on six receptions. When it comes to the defense, Devin McCourty and Jonathan Jones recorded six tackles apiece.

The Patriots are the 29th team in the NFL when it comes to the offense with 19.4 points per game, 29th in passing yards (192.0), 3rd in rushing yards (159.7), while they have the 12th defense that allows 23.9 points per contest.

Jets Powerless in a Loss to the Chiefs

The New York Jets weren’t expected to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs on the road and they suffered a 35-9 loss, without scoring a touchdown in the process. They surrender almost 500 yards to the reigning champions and totaled 221 on the other side, while they had just 13 first downs opposite Kansas City’s 25. The Jets came close to 14-9 late in the second quarter, but that was all from the weakest team in the NFL.

Sam Darnold completed 18 of 30 passes for 133 yards, while he added 21 rushing yards on four attempts. Denzel Mims and Braxton Berrios combined for 76 yards on ten receptions, while Frank Gore led the team in rushing yards with 30 on ten carries. Avery Williamson and Neville Hewitt were solid on defense with 17 tackles combined.

The Jets are the last team in the NFL when it comes to the offense with 11.8 points per game, worst in passing yards (155.9), 23rd in rushing yards (103.1), while they have the 28th defense that allows 29.8 points per contest.

Patriots vs. Jets Pick

The Jets are on the course to finish the season with a 0-16 record and get the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, but that could change if they beat the Patriots on Monday. Jokes on side, New York actually has an opportunity to record the first victory of the season as the Pats are not playing well, especially on offense, despite slight improvement against the Bills.

They are without an H2H win since 2015 and this is their chance. I am not saying the hosts will get the win, but I am going to back them to cover the spread.
