Neman Grodno vs. Gorodeya – Belarusian Premier League, October 17, 2020
Title-chasing Neman was given a huge boost of confidence when BATE lost at home to Dynamo Brest at the end of September. After cup victories, this is the first chance that the Grodno club has had to close the gap at the top.
Gorodeya is also desperate for points, but for a completely different reason at the other end of the table.
Neman Grodno vs. Gorodeya Odds
With just five games to go until the end of the season, Neman will take heart in BATE’s slight blip and will be going all out to post a convincing win here. Gorodeya has been largely woeful all year, so the odds for the away win are nowhere near large enough to warrant any interest.
Neman Grodno vs. Gorodeya Match Preview
Neman manager Igor Kovalevich must have thought his team’s chances had gone just a few months ago as BATE roared back into life and Shakhtyor looked unbeatable. But both those rivals at the top of the table have slipped up since then and there seems to be a real chance for the Grodno side now.
Like the majority of the clubs in the Belarusian Premier League, Neman hasn’t actually played a league game since September, but there have been two wins in the cup that have shown that the team is still performing well. There is the chance of a shock result, of course – but an early goal should kill off any Gorodeya hopes.
The visiting team was knocked out of the cup by lower league opposition and hasn’t won a single game in the league since the middle of July, so those Neman fears of an away win would seem to be pretty far-fetched anyway. There is a real danger of relegation for Gorodeya, but raising itself against Neman feels like a remote possibility.
Neman won 2-0 in the reverse fixture earlier in the year – and scoring goals has been a real problem for Gorodeya throughout the season. There have only been 21 in 25 games and the last time this team managed more than one in a league game was when it surprisingly beat Isloch three months ago.
Neman Grodno vs. Gorodeya Betting Pick
Neman Grodno to Win-243
The odds don’t really make a single win bet worth it, but I can’t see this game ending in anything but a Neman Grodno victory. Gorodeya has found life difficult all season and will be hoping that Belshina and Smolevichi have a similarly poor run in to have any hope of staying up.
