Only a month ago, the NC Dinos had a solid lead at the top of the KBO standings. The team struggled to maintain top form throughout August and that has allowed the likes of Kiwoom and LG to close the gap. We now have a fight on our hands and the Heroes are only a win and a half behind the Dinos.

The two sides face each other this week and the upcoming series might be crucial. It’s only two games, but winning them will be a powerful boost in the fight for the top seed in the KBO playoffs.

The Dinos had a lot of ups and downs in August but finished the month on a high. They have won seven of the last ten games which has helped them remain on the top of the KBO table, despite the strong push of the Kiwoom Heroes.

NC is arguably the most complex side in the country and can rely both on the offense and the defense to win games. The problem is that getting both to work in the same fixture has been rare in August.

And still, there has been an improvement on that front towards the end of the month and the Dinos already traded victories against the Heroes. They are slightly ahead in the H2H stats both overall and for the 2020 season.

It’s obvious that the team wants to keep it that way and the starting pitcher can certainly help. Mike Wright has been decent this season, bringing his team eight wins in twelve starts, while the Kiwoom Heroes have a bunch of injured starters.

The good run of the Heroes in August is particularly impressive when you consider the fact that several starting pitchers are out of the rotation because of injuries. The team has been able to cope with the problem in most cases, but I’m not sure that Kiwoom could do that against an opponent like the Dinos.

Jae Woong Kim is expected to get the nod, but he’s not a typical starter. You could get two or three solid innings from the guy and that’s it. Someone else will have to stop the Bears and with three injured players in this position, I’m not too optimistic about the Heroes.

They have to rely on their offense here and while they have done so in the past several weeks, they are facing one of the best defensive teams in the league.

The Dinos certainly have the upper hand in this one and the betting sites know that. And yet, the starter of the Heroes can give them several good innings, while NC can rely on one of its better pitchers. We might see a tight game here, so the -115 for under 10.5 runs makes a lot of sense.
