NBA Predictions For Tuesday’s Preseason Games – Best Bets for December 15, 2020

If you want to bet on the NBA and can’t wait until December 22nd, there’s always preseason action. You can also bet on a ton of props and futures, but there’s nothing like the here and now.
This is day three of my NBA preseason predictions and top betting picks, and it could be time to get in a nice groove. Before diving into my favorite plays, see who is on tonight’s schedule.
- Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers
- San Antonio Spurs vs. Houston Rockets
- Golden State Warriors vs. Sacramento Kings
Rivalries clash across the board in this one, with the big game probably being the Celtics vs. 76ers. Both teams will be enjoying their first preseason game, though, so this is likely one of the more volatile settings for NBA preseason betting on Tuesday.
Everyone else has played at least one game, so we have something to work with in most of these games. Pay attention to the latest news and any change in NBA preseason odds.
With that, let’s dive into my NBA preseason picks for Tuesday, December 15th.
Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers Predictions
- 76ers to beat Celtics
- Predicted total: 210-215
Philly has more star power in this matchup, and I tend to think they’ll play their guys a bit more due to the presence of new head coach Doc Rivers.
Rivers probably wouldn’t mind getting a good look at the 2020-21 Philadelphia 76ers roster in action.
Kemba Walker is out until at least January, so right away the Celtics are a bit shorthanded. I give Philly the edge, and the way Boston plays probably leans toward the Under. That said, keep an eye out for any news on player minutes or inactives.
San Antonio Spurs vs. Houston Rockets Predictions
- Rockets to beat Spurs
- Predicted total: 225-230
The Rockets are 1-1 through two preseason games, but new additions in John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins look fantastic. It hasn’t changed anything for James Harden, however, who still reportedly wants a trade out of town.

Even so, Harden is expected to make his 2020 preseason debut in this one, bolstering an already fun Houston lineup.
San Antonio should have everyone for this one, but nobody ever knows what Gregg Popovich will do. Houston looks like the team to side with, especially with Harden probably requiring extra burn to gain some chemistry with his new teammates.
Golden State Warriors vs. Sacramento Kings Predictions
- Warriors to beat Kings
- Predicted total: 220-225
Lastly, we have a potentially fun battle between the Warriors and Kings. Golden State once again will be forced to navigate life without Klay Thompson (Achilles), but they otherwise have a potent offense and a good system.
Stephen Curry should ramp things up a bit, while the rest of the Warriors should work to perfect Steve Kerr’s offense.
Bettors should brace for James Wiseman and Draymond Green to continue to miss time, however, as they’ve missed time due to COVID-19 and only just returned to practice on Monday.
Sacramento is 1-1 through two preseason games, but they’ve been a little banged up. Even at full strength, I’m not too excited about their chances against the Dubs.
That said, this is a pretty good spot for Luke Walton and co. to further analyze the 2020-21 Sacramento Kings roster.
Best NBA Preseason Bets for Tuesday, December 15th
- Celtics (+3.5) -115
- Rockets (-3.5) -110
- Warriors (-1) -115
Word came out that the 76ers probably won’t play their main guys beyond the first half, and Boston has solid depth. The Celtics stand out as a split ATS play in preseason play on Tuesday.
James Harden’s return should help the Rockets, as well. It’s unclear how much he’ll play, but the Rockets would be smart to allow him to gain some chemistry with John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins. If all goes well, a Houston win should be in order.
Lastly, bettors should be able to target the Dubs. Stephen Curry and the main starters should get solid run again, and they looked good in game one. Look for Golden State to edge out the Kings in what is basically a pick’em.
