NBA Predictions and Best Bets – March 26, 2021

| March 26, 2021 5:35 am PDT

The Association took a bit of a breather yesterday as they rolled out a tiny schedule amid the league’s trade deadline.

With all the big moves out of the way, the action fires back up at full speed on Friday, with a powerful 11-game schedule.

Let’s see which teams are facing off before diving into Friday’s NBA predictions and top betting picks.

  • Brooklyn Nets vs. Detroit Pistons
  • Boston Celtics vs. Milwaukee Bucks
  • Phoenix Suns vs. Toronto Raptors
  • Denver Nuggets vs. New Orleans Pelicans
  • Houston Rockets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
  • Portland Trail Blazers vs. Orlando Magic
  • Miami Heat vs. Charlotte Hornets
  • Indiana Pacers vs. Dallas Mavericks
  • Memphis Grizzlies vs. Utah Jazz
  • Atlanta Hawks vs. Golden State Warriors
  • Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Los Angeles Lakers

This is obviously a huge slate, and it comes just a day after big moves were made. Keep in mind that rotations may be impacted by some trades, while line movement and injuries should also shape how you look at things.

For some advice on how to digest it and turn it into some winning bets, let’s dive into today’s NBA betting slate with my predictions and picks.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Detroit Pistons Predictions

  • Nets to beat Pistons
  • Predicted total: 220-225

The Nets got destroyed by the Jass with all of their top studs out on Wednesday, but I’d expect James Harden to be back on the floor for this one.

Brooklyn has largely been humming along, and it would make sense for them to get back on track against the lowly Pistons.

Detroit even traded away a useful point guard in Delon Wright, so they will be even tougher to like for bettors.

The Pistons are at home, and the Nets give up points, but that’s about all to like in this spot. I will take the Nets’ side in all capacities, while their fast pace and offensive upside nudges this to the Over.

Boston Celtics vs. Milwaukee Bucks Predictions

  • Bucks to beat Celtics
  • Predicted total: 220-225

Milwaukee was coasting to an easy win in this same matchup two days ago before the Celtics gave them a scare with a late rally.

Boston proved their worth with that fight, and then they got some reinforcements after trading for perimeter scorer Evan Fournier.

That’s a nice little offensive boost, and the Celtics are priced as +5 underdogs. I still like Milwaukee to win, and the pace leans things toward the Over, but expect another good effort out of Boston.

Phoenix Suns vs. Toronto Raptors Predictions

  • Suns to beat Raptors
  • Predicted total: 210-215

Toronto was very busy before the NBA trade deadline, as they unloaded Norm Powell and other assets.

The Raptors will roll into this one undermanned, so it will be awfully tough to bet in their favor.

Toronto had been horrible lately, anyways, losing nine of their last 10. I’m expecting a loss in general here, but the recent turnover obviously doesn’t help.

Phoenix is scarier at home, but they’re still a much better team. The Suns come in at 29-14 and have one of the better defenses in the league, along with a slow pace.

The Suns and the Under stand out in this one.

Denver Nuggets vs. New Orleans Pelicans Predictions

  • Nuggets to beat Pelicans
  • Predicted total: 220-225

The Nuggets got a little bit better at the trade deadline, as they swung a deal for versatile forward Aaron Gordon.

It’s unclear if he’ll step in and start immediately on Friday, but I assume they’ll be able to get along just fine without him, regardless.

New Orleans has won two in a row, but they continue to struggle defensively. This game’s pace hints toward the Over, but the Pels can’t stop Nikola Jokic or Jamal Murray.

I love Denver and the Over here.

Houston Rockets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Predictions

  • Timberwolves to beat Rockets
  • Predicted total: 225-230

The Rockets finally won a game after losing 20 in a row but returned to their losing ways.

They’ll compete with Minnesota down the stretch to be the worst team in the west, so it’s anyone’s guess who will even want to win this one.

I lean towards Minnesota because they’re at home, and they have more exciting talent right now.

The Rockets have been trading and resting guys like crazy, so it stands to reason that they won’t be near 100%. I somewhat like the T’Wolves here, but the Over is probably the most alluring wager due to no defense on either side.

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Orlando Magic Predictions

  • Blazers to beat Magic
  • Predicted total: 215-220

Portland made a big move by acquiring Norm Powell, and it will be worth tracking them to see if he’s cleared to play this quickly.

The Blazers could be down a couple of bodies if not, and they also might be a bit tired after playing on Thursday.

I’m not sure it matters, however, with Orlando completely dismantling their team on Thursday.

I mentioned the Aaron Gordon trade already, but they also shipped Nikola Vucevic to Chicago.

It is a wonder where they will get their offense in this one.

The Blazers stand out as the main bet, and given the lack of defense here, the Over is on the table.

Miami Heat vs. Charlotte Hornets Predictions

  • Heat to beat Hornets
  • Predicted total: 215-220

Miami was busy before the trade deadline, and they got a deal to land Victor Oladipo.

They’ll obviously take a different roster into a road tilt with the Hornets, although it’s unclear who will suit up just yet.

The Heat needed to make a change, as they’d lost four games in a row going into Thursday’s deadline. They do have the edge defensively here, of course.

Charlotte has taken the loss of LaMelo Ball (wrist) in stride, and they’ve won both games since he went down. They’re not the worst bet at home here, but Miami is just the deeper, tougher team.

Indiana Pacers vs. Dallas Mavericks Predictions

  • Mavericks to beat Pacers
  • Predicted total: 220-225

Luka Doncic endured arguably his worst game in the NBA the other day, yet Dallas prevailed in a ho-hum win.

The Mavs are looking quite strong these days. They’ve won each of their last two games and are a solid 7-3 over their last ten games.

Indiana is going in the other direction. The Pacers are just 5-5 over their last ten games, and they’re on outside of the playoffs in the east.

Iny has a slight edge at home, but they don’t rebound very well, and I’m not sure bettors can bank on two bad games in a row from Doncic.

Dallas should win and cover, especially when you consider the Pacers are literally the second-worst team against the spread (17-26) of the year.

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Utah Jazz Predictions

  • Jazz to beat Grizzlies
  • Predicted total: 220-225

Utah has another winning streak rolling, as they abused a shorthanded Brooklyn team to win their third in a row.

They’re quite likely to make it four straight on Friday, as they put a nasty 17-2 home record on the line against Memphis.

Mike Conley looks to cook his former club, while the Grizzlies are a middling 21-20 and have an offense that runs hot and cold. I love Utah across the board here.

Atlanta Hawks vs. Golden State Warriors Predictions

  • Hawks to beat Warriors
  • Predicted total: 225-230

The Dubs are not a great team to back right now, as Stephen Curry remains sidelined with a tailbone injury.

Golden State loses a massive scoring presence, and they just aren’t the same without their leader.

That makes Atlanta a good team to back, while the pace of this one puts the Over in play, too.

The Hawks took a step back with two straight losses following a nice eight-game winning streak, but I think they calibrate in this spot.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Los Angeles Lakers Predictions

  • Lakers to beat Cavaliers
  • Predicted total: 215-220

Lastly, we have the former team of LeBron James. He and The Brow will still be out for this one, but it’s still worth noting.

L.A. didn’t do anything at the trade deadline, so their spare parts will try to get the win here.

The Lakers still have some guys in Dennis Schroder, Montrezl Harrell, and Kyle Kuzma that can score, of course, and they get to play this one at home.

Cleveland has some size and some nice guards, but their offense is very tough to trust in general. It should be close, but I like the Lake Show and the Under.

Best NBA Bets for Friday, March 26th

Celtics (+6)-110
Nuggets (-2.5)-110
Mavericks (-5)-110
Hawks (-3.5)-110
Hawks vs. Warriors Over 220-110

Boston put up a fight against Milwaukee the other day, so I’ll throw them a bone here. Yes, the Bucks do often blow teams out, but the Celtics are now at full strength.

I think they can at least keep it close.

Denver at -2.5 feels like a steal, while the Mavs at -5 is a solid bet. Indiana has struggled to live up to expectations all year, and they’re horrible against the spread.

The Hawks should be approachable at -3.5. Golden State is down their best player, and up until these last two games, the Hawks looked fantastic. The pace and offensive upside make their 220 total feel way too low, as well.
