NBA Predictions and Best Bets – March 24, 2021

| March 24, 2021 6:55 am PDT

If you’re up for some NBA betting, Wednesday has the slate for you. There are 11 games available on tonight’s schedule, with some high profile contests.

The Celtics and Bucks get things started early in the night, while the Nets and Jazz cap things off. Those are just two of 11 games you may want to bet on, though.

Take a quick look at the NBA schedule for Wednesday, March 24th.

  • Detroit Pistons vs. Indiana Pacers
  • Boston Celtics vs. Milwaukee Bucks
  • Denver Nuggets vs. Toronto Raptors
  • Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Chicago Bulls
  • Charlotte Hornets vs. Houston Rockets
  • Dallas Mavericks vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
  • Phoenix Suns vs. Orlando Magic
  • Memphis Grizzlies vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
  • Los Angeles Clippers vs. San Antonio Spurs
  • Atlanta Hawks vs. Sacramento Kings
  • Brooklyn Nets vs. Utah Jazz

It’s a hefty slate, but it also includes quite a few landmines bettors may want to avoid. I’ll sort through the madness to predict each game’s outcome and hand out my preferred bets.

With that, let’s dive into Wednesday’s NBA predictions and top betting picks.

Detroit Pistons vs. Indiana Pacers Predictions

  • Pacers to beat Pistons
  • Predicted total: 210-215

The Pacers are a tough team to peg. They have clearly regressed since last year and are 4-6 over their last 10 games.

They’re also looking at dealing star point guard Malcolm Brogdon.

Who knows what will happen, but for now, the Pacers are at least the better team as they prepare to host the struggling Pistons.

Detroit has the worst record in the east at 12-30, and they’re just 3-7 over their last 10. They’re also 5-18 on the road, so if you’re looking for a spot to feel good about Indiana, this is it.

Boston Celtics vs. Milwaukee Bucks Predictions

  • Celtics to beat Bucks
  • Predicted total: 215-220

This could vie for game of the night, assuming Giannis Antetokounmpo is back. He missed Milwaukee’s last game, and they had zero trouble routing the Pacers.

Boston could be a tougher out, especially with Kemba Walker returning after resting.

If The Greek Freak is back, the Bucks are tough to bet against here. They’re 28-14 on the year and vying for the best record in the east, and they’re 9-1 over their last 10.

Boston stands out as a nice value if Giannis is out again, though. They’re just 5-5 over their last 10 games, but they won a 122-121 shootout earlier this year and could be desperate after sliding to the east’s 8th seed.

Denver Nuggets vs. Toronto Raptors Predictions

  • Nuggets to beat Raptors
  • Predicted total: 220-225

It’s gotten quite bad for the Raptors, who have lost nine games in a row, and just fell to a Houston team that had lost 20 straight games.

Denver could be a bit bogged down after playing last night, but the Raptors are in dire straits.

The Raptors could be sellers prior to Thursday’s NBA trade deadline, and a 10th straight loss may be the final nail in the coffin.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Chicago Bulls Predictions

  • Bulls to beat Cavaliers
  • Predicted total: 215-220

Chicago went 3-1 against the Cavs last year, and they hope to keep that run going in the first meeting between these two teams this season.

The Bulls come in at 19-23 and still have playoff hopes, while they’re also the better offensive team.

Cleveland has the mild edge defensively and should be able to feast on Chicago’s weak interior defense that got abused by Rudy Gobert.

See for yourself.

That said, Cleveland isn’t very reliable.

The Cavs are just 5-15 on the road this year, and it’s unlikely they can stop the Bulls on the other end. Cleveland’s slow pace pushes things to the Under, but I’ll take Chicago to get a nice home win.

Charlotte Hornets vs. Houston Rockets Predictions

  • Rockets to beat Hornets
  • Predicted total: 220-225

Houston finally snapped a horrendous 20-game skid, so why not get a different streak going?

Normally I’d stay away from the Rockets, but they could be at full strength for this one.

Victor Oladipo and most of the Houston players are trade candidates, but until they’re moved, it looks like they’ll keep fighting.

Charlotte got a tough win over the Spurs in their last outing and is still in the mix for the playoffs, but losing LaMelo Ball for the year is obviously damaging.

The best bet here is the Over, but I don’t mind Houston to surprise with a second straight win.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Predictions

  • Mavericks to beat Timberwolves
  • Predicted total: 225-230

Luka Doncic looks to keep working his magic on Wednesday as he leads the 8th place Mavs into Minnesota.

Dallas is a solid 7-3 over their last 10, and a couple of wins could send them flying up the Western Conference standings.

Minnesota has been horrible all year, as they’re just 10-33 and are giving up over 117 points per game. Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards are filling it up offensively, but there’s little else to excite bettors here.

I love Dallas and the Over in this spot.

Phoenix Suns vs. Orlando Magic Predictions

  • Suns to beat Magic
  • Predicted total: 210-215

This game goes the other way, as the Suns have an elite defense and play at a slow pace. They look fantastic these days, as they’re 28-13 on the year and are threatening Utah for the NBA’s best record.

At their current rate, they’ll probably get there, and the Magic don’t have much of a prayer.

Orlando has been really bad, going 14-28 overall and just 9-13 at home. Their defense has regressed this year, and a slew of injuries have derailed them.

Nikola Vucevic is a candidate to be traded, and Aaron Gordon has asked for a one-way ticket out of town.

Orlando is going nowhere in a hurry, so it’s all about the Suns and the Under for me.

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Oklahoma City Thunder Predictions

  • Grizzlies to beat Thunder
  • Predicted total: 215-220

The Grizzlies impressed with a nice overtime win over Boston in their last game. They’re a respectable 20-20, and they keep hanging around in the fight for a playoff spot.

You have to like their chances here, but OKC just keeps hanging around. The Thunder are 19-24 and have stayed the course with a 5-5 run over their last 10 contests.

The only thing really separating these teams is health. I’d side with Memphis (3-1 in the last four games of this series), but this game is probably one to avoid.

Los Angeles Clippers vs. San Antonio Spurs Predictions

  • Clippers to beat Spurs
  • Predicted total: 215-220

The Clippers rallied for a nice home win over the Hawks in their last game, and they’ll hope to get win number three in a row on Wednesday.

Their odds should be decent, seeing as the Spurs no longer have LaMarcus Aldridge and don’t play their best ball (10-11) at home.

San Antonio is still in the playoff picture, but they don’t match up particularly well with the Clippers. This is a “revenge” spot with Kawhi Leonard returning home, too.

Just make sure he and Paul George are actually playing before you dive headfirst into this one.

Atlanta Hawks vs. Sacramento Kings Predictions

  • Hawks to beat Kings
  • Predicted total: 230-235

Atlanta was housing the Clippers before caving in a loss on Monday. That defeat snapped an inspiring eight-game winning streak, but they still come in with the fifth-best record in the east.

That isn’t saying a whole lot, but for a team that looked lost just a couple of weeks ago, I’m sure they’ll take it.

The Hawks stand out here. They’ve played way better since changing their head coach, and the Kings don’t stop anyone defensively.

I love the Over above all else here, but the Hawks feel like a strong bet, as well.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Utah Jazz Predictions

  • Jazz to beat Nets
  • Predicted total: 225-230

The last game of the night should be a ton of fun, but it comes with a caveat; it’s possible James Harden, and Kyrie Irving will be out.

Harden was iffy going into last night, and this is the second leg of a back-to-back set, so he’ll be a name to track once again.

And Irving is already away for his birthday week celebration, it seems.

All things considered, Utah feels like the best play here, while Brooklyn’s pace and lack of defense probably leads to the Over being a good option, as well.

For what it’s worth, Utah is 31-11 on the year and 16-2 at home. A Nets upset win feels unlikely, but I’d have interest in that depending on what the spread is.

Best NBA Bets for Wednesday, March 24th

Nuggets (+1.5)-110
Mavericks vs. Timberwolves Over 229-110
Cavaliers (+6)-110
Hawks (-2.5)-115

These are the NBA bets that stand out the most to me going into Wednesday. I like the Nuggets to take out the Raptors, and they’re actually priced as the underdog now.

The moneyline isn’t available as I write this, but you might as well go with that once it drops.

Dallas is a good bet to cover against Minnesota, but the better wager is the Over in that game. The Over is 22-21 in Timberwolves games, and you’re looking at the 26th ranked defense in the league.

Cleveland probably won’t beat the Bulls in Chicago, but they do have an edge down low. I think that may be enough to keep things at least close. The Bulls are also just a middling 5-5 ATS as home favorites.

Atlanta has been terrific lately, and I won’t let a road loss to the Clippers deter me. They could smoke the Kings, so covering by three feels like a small feat.
