NBA Predictions and Best Bets – February 3, 2021

| February 3, 2021 1:55 am PDT

Looking to bet on the NBA on Wednesday? You are in luck, as bettors get another fun slate, with a lot of interesting matchups.

Before you rush into placing some bets, take a second to see who is in action.

  • Indiana Pacers vs. Milwaukee Bucks
  • Philadelphia 76ers vs. Charlotte Hornets
  • Dallas Mavericks vs. Atlanta Hawks
  • New York Knicks vs. Chicago Bulls
  • Los Angeles Clippers vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
  • Washington Wizards vs. Miami Heat
  • Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
  • Minnesota Timberwolves vs. San Antonio Spurs
  • Phoenix Suns vs. New Orleans Pelicans
  • Boston Celtics vs. Sacramento Kings

This is immediately a very appealing slate to bet on the NBA, as there are a lot of games projected to be pretty close.

A few point spreads (namely Indy at +8.5) stand out, too, while some injuries may open up some value you otherwise wouldn’t consider.

To break it all down, join me for my NBA predictions and top betting picks for Wednesday, February 3rd, 2021.

Indiana Pacers vs. Milwaukee Bucks Predictions

  • Bucks to beat Pacers
  • Predicted total: 220-225

The Bucks got their groove back with a blowout win over the Blazers in their last contest. Now they’ll battle the Pacers to hold onto first place in the Central Division.

Milwaukee was the runaway favorite to win this division not too long ago, but the Pacers are hanging around at just one game back.

I’m sure the Bucks would love to put their foot down and house Indy, but they’re hosting a scrappy and determined bunch.

The Bucks should win, but the Pacers will give them a fight.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Charlotte Hornets Predictions

  • 76ers to beat Hornets
  • Predicted total: 220-225

The Sixers hope to have Joel Embiid back in tow when they head to Charlotte to battle the Hornets. Philly has won three in a row, but they are simply not to be feared when Embiid isn’t on the floor.

Charlotte started the LaMelo Ball era in style, as the young Big Baller Brand star got his first career start in his last game.

The Hornets are on fire right now, too, riding three straight wins into a big tilt with the Sixers.

You can bet on the Hornets ATS here, but if Embiid is back in the saddle, the 76ers are still the right call.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Atlanta Hawks Predictions

  • Mavericks to beat Hawks
  • Predicted total: 230-235

The Mavs are in a bad way at the moment. Their effort has been on point lately, but they have still dropped six straight, and most recently were dealt a heart-breaker by Devin Booker.

It’s been a brutal run, but the bleeding has to stop eventually.

The Hawks are a respectable 10-10, but they’re also just 5-5 at home and still have defensive issues. If the Mavs are going to get it going, this isn’t a bad place to start.

New York Knicks vs. Chicago Bulls Predictions

  • Bulls to beat Knicks
  • Predicted total: 215-220

The Knicks like to slow down games, and it’s actually allowed them to be pretty competitive this year. However, their offensive woes can’t be masked, and they’re now stuck in a three-game skid.

Chicago is looking at starting a winning streak, and they’re much more exciting offensively. They’re just 3-6 at the United Center, but they don’t get many chances to be the favorite.

Look for the Bulls to take full advantage and get a nice home win.

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Predictions

  • Clippers to beat Cavaliers
  • Predicted total: 210-215

The Clips are at risk of resting some guys on Wednesday, as they just played last night against Brooklyn.

This would be a pretty good spot to give some guys the night off, as the Cavs are just 10-11 and aren’t the toughest test defensively.

Andre Drummond also sat out Cleveland’s last game, and if he’s out again, the Clippers have an even bigger edge.

Washington Wizards vs. Miami Heat Predictions

  • Heat to beat Wizards
  • Predicted total: 230-235

The Wizards aren’t winning much these days, but they’re still scoring in bunches. They also have zero interest in trading superstar guard Bradley Beal.

Beal doesn’t want to be traded, either.

That’s somewhat shocking, but it’s actually a good thing for the Wiz moving forward. I wouldn’t put too much stock in them for tonight, though, as they played last night and should be a bit tired.

Miami is struggling these days, but this feels like a “get right” spot for them. Jimmy Butler was none too pleased with Miami’s latest loss, so look for a huge game out of him in a much-needed victory.

Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder Predictions

  • Rockets to beat Thunder
  • Predicted total: 220-225

When I first looked at Wednesday’s NBA schedule, I penciled in the Rockets as a winner. Perhaps they still get there, seeing as they’ve been in terrific form with six straight wins.

If they do, of course, they’ll be doing so without the services of John Wall.

Houston has a solid starting unit, and they may be able to get along just fine without their top point guard. However, they’re on the road, and beating the same team in back-to-back meetings may prove difficult.

The Rockets probably win, but OKC is a very interesting +180 home dog, and I think they can beat a 5-point spread.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. San Antonio Spurs Predictions

  • Spurs to beat Timberwolves
  • Predicted total: 215-220

The Spurs’ home issues look to continue on Wednesday as they host an inferior Timberwolves team. San Antonio has dropped two straight, and are just 5-7 on their home floor.

The Spurs are the better team and should win, but just how serious should bettors take their inability to consistently win at home?

Minnesota should still be without star center Karl-Anthony Towns, so probably not too seriously. The Spurs should win, but Minnesota will likely give it a go on Wednesday.

Phoenix Suns vs. New Orleans Pelicans Predictions

  • Suns to beat Pelicans
  • Predicted total: 210-215

The Suns have been all over the map this year, but they’re trending in a positive direction thanks to a nice three-game winning streak.

They got rescued by Devin Booker in their last outing, and now that he’s healthy, they’ll be a lot easier for bettors to back.

Phoenix could have their work cut out for them on the road against a reinvigorated Pelicans team, but ultimately, I expect their defense to win out.

Boston Celtics vs. Sacramento Kings Predictions

  • Celtics to beat Kings
  • Predicted total: 220-225

The last game of the night goes down in Sac-town, where the Kings host the Celtics. Boston could be a tad fatigued after playing Golden State last night, and bettors will want to keep tabs on their active players.

Kemba Walker is the biggest risk to rest, but any of their key guys could always take the night off.

Boston has been in a bit of a slide lately, though, so even though this would normally register as a “gimme” game, it’s also one the Celtics want to get.

Sacramento is a dream matchup thanks to an atrocious defense. Even if they’re down a guy, Boston should get the job done here.

Best NBA Bets for Wednesday, February 3rd

  • Pacers (+8.5) -115
  • Mavericks to Win (-125)
  • Thunder (+5.5) -105
  • Bulls to Win (-140)
  • Suns to Win (-130)

The Bucks put on a show in their most recent win, but that was preceded by two really bad losses, as well as some awful defense.

If Milwaukee isn’t on top of their game, they could easily revert to that terrible form, and suddenly the Pacers at +305 looks like an amazing play. I don’t really love the Pacers to win, but they should come to play with first place in the Central Division up for grabs.

Dallas is impossible to trust right now, but teams snap out of funks all the time. They have too much talent to keep losing for much longer, and this -125 price in a winnable spot feels like a steal.

OKC against the spread is also a nice bet on paper. Without Wall running the offense, the Rockets won’t be quite as cohesive as they have been. That may be all OKC needs to at least keep this thing close on Wednesday.

Chicago and Phoenix are two more favorites that stand out as nice values. The Suns are a bit less reliable on the road, but their defense and the return of Booker makes them stand out.

The Bulls are at home against the Knicks, and it’s pretty rare they get to be dubbed favorites. I think they respond nicely with a big win at the United Center.
