NBA Predictions and Best Bets – February 2, 2021

| February 2, 2021 1:57 am PDT

After a busy opening to the week, the NBA slows things down a bit for a more palatable six-game schedule on Tuesday.

See who is in action for tonight’s games before placing any bets.

  • Toronto Raptors vs. Orlando Magic
  • Los Angeles Clippers vs. Brooklyn Nets
  • Memphis Grizzlies vs. Indiana Pacers
  • Portland Trail Blazers vs. Washington Wizards
  • Boston Celtics vs. Golden State Warriors
  • Detroit Pistons vs. Utah Jazz

The Clippers vs. Nets showdown takes center stage on this slate, and all eyes will be on that game.

Elsewhere, bettors should have interest in a potentially bonkers clash between Portland and Washington, while some of the other games are a bit more anti-climactic.

There should still be plenty of good bets to sort through, of course.

Let’s see which wagers stand out in Tuesday’s NBA predictions and top betting picks.

Toronto Raptors vs. Orlando Magic Predictions

  • Raptors to beat Magic
  • Predicted total: 210-215

Toronto hopes to get a winning streak going on Tuesday, when they face the Magic in Orlando.

The Magic just want to stop the bleeding, as they’ve dropped three in a row and will be without Aaron Gordon for the foreseeable future.

Nikola Vucevic is Orlando’s only prayer here, but the Magic aren’t reliable (4-6) at home, and they’re just not healthy these days. A more cohesive Raptors squad feels like the better bet to get out of this one with a win.

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Brooklyn Nets Predictions

  • Clippers to beat Nets
  • Predicted total: 225-230

The game of the night goes down at the Barclays Center, where the Nets host the Clippers. It’s a battle of two extremely different teams, as the Nets can fill it up offensively, but L.A. has some defensive bite.

Brooklyn could have a little less offensive help, of course, as James Harden missed the team’s last game. That said, he’s tentatively expected to return.

Harden returning would make the Nets a solid play at home, but the Clippers are the more well-rounded team. They’re also in a groove, having won nine of their last 10.

This could be a statement game for the Nets, but it’s hard not to side with the Clips in this spot.

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Indiana Pacers Predictions

  • Pacers to beat Grizzlies
  • Predicted total: 215-220

After a long layoff, Ja Morant and co. are preparing to play their third game in four days. This is also the second leg of a back-to-back set, so while the Grizzlies have won seven in a row, they’re in trouble here.

It doesn’t help that they’re on the road against a rock solid Pacers squad. Indy has lost two straight, but they’re at home and have a distinct size edge in this one.

Hosting a potentially worn down Memphis team only boosts their chances on Tuesday.

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Washington Wizards Predictions

  • Wizards to beat Blazers
  • Predicted total: 230-235

The Blazers could have been tired, but a blowout loss to the Bucks probably keeps them fresh. They’ll need their legs on Tuesday, as this game with Washington projects to be quite the explosive shootout.

The game total is absurd here, but these teams can live up to the hype. Washington is giving up over 121 points per game, and there is major star power on offense for both sides.

Expect all of the points, but the Wiz defending their home turf shouldn’t come as a shocker – especially after they downed the Nets in their last game.

Boston Celtics vs. Golden State Warriors Predictions

  • Celtics to beat Warriors
  • Predicted total: 225-230

Stephen Curry keeps the Dubs relevant, and bettors know by now they can explode offensively.

They’re a strong 8-4 at home, so they shouldn’t be totally overlooked here, but they’re also facing a superior Celtics team.

Boston is finally starting to get healthy, and this is a get right spot for them. Golden State will push the pace, but Boston’s defense wins out in a much-needed road win.

Detroit Pistons vs. Utah Jazz Predictions

  • Jazz to beat Pistons
  • Predicted total: 215-220

The last game of the night lands in Utah, where the Jazz look to begin a new winning streak after being edged out by the Nuggets over the weekend.

Utah is healthy now, and they’re pretty unbeatable (8-2) on their home floor.

Detroit, meanwhile, continue to be one of the worst teams in basketball. The Pistons are not a safe bet to be competitive in any given spot, and I don’t trust them here at all.

Best NBA Bets for Tuesday, February 2nd

  • Grizzlies (+5.5) -105
  • Blazers vs. Wizards Over 240.5 (-110)
  • Celtics to Win (-153)

There are several wagers to target on this slate, but these three NBA picks are by far my favorite bets.

Memphis is probably going to lose for the first time in seven games, but they won’t go down without a fight. A road date against the Pacers is a tall order given how fatigued they are, but this spread is still too favorable.

That total for the Wizards game is obscene, but you’re only saying that if you don’t watch the Blazers and Wiz play. Neither of these teams can defend right now, and both are capable of putting up 120+ points in their sleep.

I’m hammering the Over there, and I also love Boston for a nice road win at Golden State. The Warriors are good at home, but Boston is on another level. They need to get it going soon, and a big road win over Golden State could serve as a nice little spark.
