Top NBA Player Prop Bets for Friday, January 21, 2022

I think I hate small slates in the NBA. Maybe I don’t. Nope, I’m sure of it, I hate them.

That’s a small nod to Doc Holliday in the movie Tombstone, and a pretty clear note of disdain for tiny NBA betting slates.

The funky NBA scheduling robbed me of joy on Tuesday, returned me to glory with a 4-0 sweep on Wednesday, and brought me back down to earth on Thursday.

Stability is not The Association’s finest attribute. Whatever the case, you’re here for NBA player props, and I have a few I love for Friday night. Let’s look over my top four player prop bets for January 21, 2022.

This is not a low bar for Irving, who historically is pretty scoring dependent. However, his role is larger than usual thanks to the absence of Kevin Durant.

Irving’s last two games are probably a good indicator of the stat line we can expect right now.

By my count, he hit the Over here in both games.

That doesn’t guarantee a thing, but Irving’s role is understandably bigger with KD out. He’s going to be tasked with scoring a lot more, and he’ll have the ball in his hands as a playmaker, as well.

I think 36+ points, rebounds, and assists is totally doable based on this role, and what we’ve been seeing out of him. BetOnline has his game with the Spurs as a tight shootout (232.5 total, 1.5 spread), too, and San Antonio gives up the 9th most points per game on the season.

Utah is a good source of value for sports bettors tonight. I was also looking at Joe Ingles here, but Bojan Bogdanovic stands out the most with Donovan Mitchell still sidelined.

He went off for 29 points in his last game, and he’s always had the green light from long range. That’s led to an average of 2.5 made threes per game, and with the enhanced scoring role, he should be busy from deep.

Bogdanovic isn’t just a volume shooter, of course.

The attempts and makes should be pretty reliable here, especially with a plus matchup against the Pistons (12.2 made threes allowed per game).

This game is absolutely at risk of being a blowout, but the Charlotte Hornets are also a dream matchup.

Charlotte pushes the pace as well as anyone, and they’re not strong defensively, so someone like Giddey is a major threat to pay off here.

Giddey isn’t an elite scorer in his first NBA season, but he’s still hit double figures in eight of his last nine games.

The matchup and Giddey’s role make this a total worth hammering at your favorite NBA sportsbooks tonight.

You can get this same prop at 25+ (-204), but this is obviously a better price, and you just need two additional points. It’s not as tall of an order as it may seem, either, as the Bulls are down two starters at the moment.

Both Zach LaVine and Lonzo Ball are sidelined, and a date with the Bucks (227.5 total) should equate to plenty of scoring opportunities.

DeRozan is averaging 25.7 points per game this season, but he’s needed more than usual right now. That led to a 30-point explosion in his last game, and we know he’s capable of doing something similar again.
