Top NBA DFS Picks and Advice for Friday, December 10, 2021

| December 9, 2021 8:03 pm PDT

The wacky NBA scheduling finally slows down a bit on Friday night, where daily fantasy basketball fans can manage a palatable nine-game schedule.

Nine games is still nothing to sneeze at, of course. And given the myriad of injuries and illness running through The Association, anything more than six games these days tends to be wild.

There are already some key names out or in doubt, and more will follow. I’ll piece together my top NBA DFS picks and favorite lineup, but be ready to make changes up until (and even after) lock.

NBA DFS Picks for December 10

  • De’Aaron Fox, PG, Kings ($7.9k)
  • Cody Martin, SG, Hornets ($5.7k)
  • Gordon Hayward, SF, Hornets ($7.3k)
  • Jayson Tatum, PF, Celtics ($9.9k)
  • Jonas Valanciunas, C, Pelicans ($8k)

I have interest in Luka Doncic and Giannis Antetokounmpo just like everyone else. However, I still am drawn to certain pieces on the depleted Hornets, and I also see Tatum as the top stud.

Tatum can blow up when he’s the main man, and he is once again looking at a hefty workload with Jaylen Brown already ruled out for Friday’s tilt in Phoenix.

Martin and Hayward are two of many Charlotte players that should be on your radar. I prefer Hayward’s price to that of Kelly Oubre Jr. and/or Miles Bridges, while Martin is still worth rostering given the run he’s getting.

Fox is in a smash spot. His price has come down below $8k, and he gives me a nice midrange option so I don’t feel compelled to chase Trae Young’s recent hot stretch.

JV is a stud center at a discounted price. He was off in his last game, and there’s nobody on the Pistons that can corral him. Foul trouble and minutes can be a concern, but any risk feels baked into this salary.

Fantasy Basketball Sleepers for 12/10

  • Armoni Brooks, PG, Rockets ($4k)
  • Malik Beasley, SG, Timberwolves ($4.1k)
  • Garrison Mathews, SF, Rockets ($4.4k)
  • Chris Boucher, PF, Raptors ($4k)
  • Tristan Thompson, C, Kings ($3.5k)

I will definitely be holding out for better value than this. These are just the preliminary NBA DFS value plays you can consider, but it should get better before lock.

Houston remains without top guards Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green, though, so Brooks is going to be viable, regardless. He saw 29 minutes last time out, and Houston has inexplicably reeled off seven straight wins.

Patrick Beverley is back, but D’Angelo Russell is iffy for Friday.

That could cement Malik Beasley into 25+ minutes. He is scoring dependent, but he’s cheap enough that you can go to him here.

Mathews is another reasonably priced Houston player I will consider. He has been getting all of the minutes he can handle, and he’s responded with 10+ points in seven straight contests. He isn’t fantasy gold by any means, but he hasn’t dipped below 30 minutes since November 24th.

Boucher looks like the top value play on this slate, assuming Precious Achiuwa sits out another game.

Achiuwa is questionable again with a shoulder injury, and guys like OG Anunoby, Khem Birch, and Aron Baynes are also all out. Boucher started last game, and hopefully he’d get a bit more burn than the 22 minutes he saw on Tuesday.

Tristan Thompson could be bad chalk, but someone has to step up with Richaun Holmes out the next two games with an eye issue.

Thompson was that guy last game, as he came in for Holmes and logged 21 minutes. If he starts, he’s a good source of salary relief on Friday.

Top NBA DFS Lineup for Friday Night

  • PG: Luka Doncic – Mavericks ($11k)
  • SG: Garrison Mathews – Rockets ($4.4k)
  • SF: Cody Martin – Hornets ($5.7k)
  • PF: Chris Boucher – Raptors ($4k)
  • C: Tristan Thompson – Kings ($3.5k)
  • G: Armoni Brooks – Rockets ($4k)
  • F: Jayson Tatum – Celtics ($9.9k)
  • UTIL: Gordon Hayward – Hornets ($7.3k)

I am sure this slate will be flipped upside down, and studs like Doncic, Harden, and Giannis will be ruled out. That would open the floodgates to value, but it’d also just create utter chaos.

While it’d be a mess, I actually welcome it. That said, I really don’t mind how this team comes together.

Rostering Rockets and values like Thompson gives me nausea, but they are fine sleepers on a slate like this. Eventually other plays will show themselves, and as lock nears, you’ll have a better idea of what your lineup should look like.
