Nashville SC vs. FC Dallas – MLS, October 20, 2020
Having beaten Houston Dynamo 3-1 last time out, Nashville will be aiming for their second consecutive victory over Texan opponents when FC Dallas visits Nissan Stadium for a cross-conference clash on Tuesday, October 20.
However, Gary Smith’s men arguably face a tougher test this week. Dallas currently sits three points ahead of Nashville in the overall standings, and the Toros also have a game in hand over the Tennesse club.

Nashville SC vs. FC Dallas Odds
Home advantage sees Nashville (2.55) head into this game as the marginal favorite, although Dallas (2.60) isn’t far behind at all. 10bet can’t seem to separate these two teams, so the draw (3.30) may be worth considering here.
With both sides losing just one of their previous four outings, this is likely to be a closely-fought contest between two in-form teams.
Nashville SC vs. FC Dallas Preview
A four-game unbeaten streak – one win and three draws – across late September and early October saw Nashville enhance their play-off ambitions. But Smith’s side was brought back down to earth by a defeat to Sporting Kansas City last weekend.
However, the Tennessee team’s new-found resilience was clear for all to see last time out. A Hany Mukhtar double, along with a strike from Abu Danladi, saw Nashville race into a three-goal lead inside 25 minutes against Houston, and they managed to hold on for a 3-1 victory.
Considering that Nashville only managed to win two of their opening nine MLS games this year, Smith’s men can take huge confidence from the fact they have lost just two of their last ten. It goes without saying that Nashville will be in a buoyant mood heading into Tuesday’s match.
Following a four-game winless run, Dallas returned to winning ways last week with a narrow 1-0 victory over SKC. The Toros faced a barrage of shots from the Wizards, but the defense stood firm and eventually got the team over the line.
It was by no means a convincing performance from Luchi Gonzalez’s side, but the manager will definitely be happy with the result. Overall, the Toros have enjoyed a successful 2020 campaign, so I can see them building on last week’s win.
Remarkably, Dallas has conceded just 17 goals in 16 games this year. You probably won’t be surprised to hear that no side in the Western Conference has conceded less this season. The Texans have struggled to score goals at times, yet their defense has kept them firmly in the hunt for a play-off place.
Nashville SC vs. FC Dallas Pick
There is no denying that Dallas boasts a far stronger squad than Nashville on paper, but right now, I really don’t think there is a big gulf in quality between the two teams. Dallas has picked up 15 points from their previous ten games, while Nashville has claimed 14 across the same period.
Still, it is worth mentioning that Dallas has only managed to win one of their six away games this year. On the flip side, Nashville has lost just one of their seven matches at Nissan Stadium.
All things considered, the draw feels like the most probable outcome on Tuesday.
