Mountaineer Racetrack Betting Picks – Wednesday, November 25, 2020

Mountaineer Casino Racetrack & Resort fills its Wednesday race card with nine solid allowance, claiming, and maiden matches. I find myself agreeing with the morning line all too often, but I do also find some very good value show bets along the way.
It’s going to be a wet Wednesday in New Cumberland, West Virginia, with an 80% chance of precipitation, temperatures in the mid-50s, and winds around nine mph.
Read on for my Mountaineer Racetrack picks and tips for Wednesday, November 25, 2020.
Pick for Mountaineer Racetrack Race 1
This is a maiden special weight race for two-year-olds running a distance of 5-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $15,500.
I’m going to go with the 2/1 morning line favorite here — Insofar, with Luis H. Colon in the irons. This gelding finished in the money four of his six career starts.
Insofar could see plenty of competition from the second-favored Skinnersburg, but I think he’ll live up to the morning line’s expectations.
And speaking of expectations, I see plenty of longshots in this race — and they’re all justifiably longshots. The only value you’ll find in a show bet here is not making one.
- Win: Insofar 2/1
Picks for Mountaineer Racetrack Race 3
This is a claiming race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of one mile for a purse of $7,500.
I have to go with the 5/2 morning line favorite here, as well — Joey B, with Luis H. Colon aboard. This six-year-old gelding moneyed 29 of his 54 career starts, winning nine of them, and his 2020 stats are even better: five money finishes in nine starts, two of them wins. Not only that, but his jockey is having a very good year. Very.
As luck would have it, the only longshot in this race (30/1) actually has a solid chance of finishing in the money here, so let’s go with a show bet on Thirsty Actor, ridden by Marco Ccamaque. This six-year-old gelding moneyed 21 of his 41 career starts, winning six.
- Win: Joey B 5/2
- Show: Thirsty Actor 30/1
Picks for Mountaineer Racetrack Race 8
This is a starter allowance race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of 5-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $13,200.
My money’s on the 8/5 morning line favorite here — Musabaqa, with Charles Oliveros aboard. This five-year-old mare finished in the money 18 of her 25 career starts, winning 12 of them.
At 12/1, Flat Out Ten, ridden by Yuri Yaranga, is a good value show bet against this field. This five-year-old mare moneyed seven of her eight career starts, winning four. You could even try an across the board wager here, but I’m just recommending the show bet.
- Win: Musabaqa 8/5
- Show: Flat Out Ten 12/1
