Mountaineer Racetrack Picks – Tuesday, December 1, 2020

| November 30, 2020 2:12 pm PDT

Mountaineer Casino Racetrack & Resort brings us nine maiden, allowance, and claiming matches. I discovered a few underdogs and even one long-odds moneymaker you’ll want to give a thorough review.

Incidentally, while I cover Tuesday’s three richest races at Mountaineer, you can always find their entire race card — including entries, jockeys, M/L odds, and wagering options — at one of our top horse racing betting sites.

Now, read on for my Mountaineer Racetrack picks and tips for the richest races on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.

Pick for Mountaineer Racetrack Race 1

This is a maiden special weight race for two-year-old fillies running a distance of one mile for a purse of $15,500.

My money is on the third-favored (7/2) entry in this race — Link in Front, with veteran jockey Luis H. Colon in the irons. This filly moneyed one of her four career starts and has shown good performance in recent workouts. Just as important is that Colon is having a very good year.

In an eight-horse race with three entries at  8/1, I don’t see any longer-odds horses finishing in the money, so let’s not waste ours.

  • Win: Link in Front 7/2

Pick for Mountaineer Racetrack Race 7

This is a maiden special weight race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of 5-1/2 furlongs for a purse of $15,500.

I’m sticking with the 3/5 morning line favorite here — Illuminati, with Noel Vigil aboard. This three-year-old gelding moneyed one of his five career starts and has shown good times in recent workouts. In this rather lackluster field, Illuminati shines.

There are no longer-odds entries in this race worth the risk, so save your long money for later.

  • Win: Illuminati 3/5

Picks for Mountaineer Racetrack Race 8

This is an allowance optional claiming race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of one mile for a purse of $16,200.

I’m buying a win ticket on one of the morning line’s three 6/1 third-favored entries — Hobe Sound, with Guillermo Rodriguez aboard. This four-year-old gelding finished in the money nine of his 14 career starts, winning five. Plus, Rodriguez is having the best year of his career. Between the two, they’ve got this.

Just squeaking into range for one of my value show-bet recommendations is the 12/1 Tiz Samurai, with Marco Ccamaque in the irons. This six-year-old gelding moneyed 23 of his 40 career starts, winning nine.

  • Win: Hobe Sounds 6/1
  • Show: Tiz Samurai 12/1

More Predictions for Tuesday

Mountaineer yielded a few good underdog win tickets, and you can find more of those as well as some long-odds moneymakers at the two other tracks I reviewed for Tuesday:
