Montreal Impact vs. Nashville SC – MLS, October 27, 2020

| October 26, 2020 7:03 am PDT

Montreal Impact and Nashville SC clash for the very first time in MLS on Tuesday, October 27, with the Canadians trailing the Tennessee team by two points in the Eastern Conference.

An impressive streak of one defeat in eight outings has thrusted Nashville into play-off contention. Meanwhile, a poor run of two wins in ten games has seen Theirry Henry’s side slide down the standings.

Read on to see my Montreal Impact vs. Nashville SC prediction and betting pick.

Montreal Impact vs. Nashville SC Odds

Motreal Impact to Win 3.40
The Draw 3.50
Nashville SC to Win 2.00

The contrasting form of these two sides has left the sportsbooks with little choice but to hand Nashville (2.00) the favorite tag for this matchup.

A neutral venue – Red Bull Arena – will host the teams on Tuesday, meaning Montreal (3.40) won’t have the home advantage.

I assess both sides’ chances below.

Montreal Impact vs. Nashville SC Preview

It is fair to say that Montreal was completely outclassed by New York City last weekend. The Impact managed to hold off the Boys in Blue for 68 minutes, but late goals from Jesus Medina, Maximiliano Moralez, and Tony Rocha eventually crushed the Canadians.

Romell Quioto netted a late consolation on Sunday, taking his tally to six goals and five assists in 13 regular-season games this year. The Honduran has remained a bright spot in an otherwise gloomy campaign for Montreal.

Following back-to-back defeats to Philadelphia Union and New England Revolution earlier in the month, Henry’s men managed to stop the rot with a victory over Inter Miami. The win against the Herons lifted the club’s spirits, but only momentarily.

Sunday’s heavy defeat to NYC proves that Montreal is nowhere near the division’s top clubs right now.

On the other hand, Gary Smith’s men have slowly been establishing themselves as a genuine force in MLS. This may only be Nashville’s debut season in America’s top flight, but the team has continued to exceed all expectations throughout the campaign.

After securing big wins over Houston Dynamo (3-1) and FC Dallas (3-0), the Tennessee club managed to hold New England to a draw last time out. Walker Zimmerman scored for the second time in three appearances to earn his side a well-deserved point.

Nashville is now just four points behind sixth-place Revs and the automatic play-off places. Smith’s men also have a game in hand over most of the teams in the Eastern Conference, so they could find themselves in an even better position by the end of the week.

Montreal Impact vs. Nashville SC Betting Pick

  • Nashville SC to Win

Montreal is on a terrible run at the moment. Henry’s men ended a streak of eight games without a win by edging Inter Miami two weekends ago, but they swiftly returned to losing ways with a humbling defeat to New York City last time out.

By contrast, Nashville has been hugely impressive in recent weeks. A narrow loss to Sporting Kansas City is the only time that Smith’s side has tasted defeat in their previous eight outings, so I’m expecting the Tennessee team to get the better of the Impact on Tuesday.
