The 2021 CONCACAF Champions League reaches its boiling point on Thursday evening. That’s when two Mexican teams, Monterrey and Club America, will lock horns in a battle for the trophy. The final will decide the soccer club champion of the Americas, so you can be sure that neither team will lack any motivation.

With both teams fired up for the game, it seems that the player quality will be the decisive factor. So, which team has better players – Monterrey or Club America?

Monterrey to Win+160
The Draw+230

As you can see, the betting odds suggest we’re in for a really exciting game in which anything can happen.

Monterrey Hoping to Grab Its Fifth Title

Club America is the most successful team in the history of the competition with seven titles. However, in the 21st century, Monterrey has been the most dominant side in the CONCACAF Champion League. In fact, this team won the title four times during the 2010s.

Can they add another title to the list? They surely have the manpower to do it. Monterrey’s roster is the most valuable of all the Mexican teams, including Club America.

The trouble is that Monterrey hasn’t been playing well as of late. Actually, Monterrey is on a losing streak of four straight games.

All of those defeats happened in the Mexican league. However, when it comes to the CONCACAF Champions League, it’s a whole different story. This team is without a single defeat in the six games played this year, with five pretty impressive wins.

The most recent game Monterrey played in this competition saw them beating favored Cruz Azul 4-1 on the road.

What we saw in that game was a spectacular display of two of Monterrey’s arguably best players Maximiliano Meza and Rogelio Funes. Meza scored once, while also making two assists. Funes put away two goals in that game.

These two have been the key players for Monterrey in recent years, especially when it comes to the games against Club America. In their most recent competitive game, Funes was the man who brought Monterrey the 1-0 victory.

Club America Playing Best Soccer in Years

This team has lost only one competitive game since March and is coming into the CONCACAF Champions League Final after four straight wins. All of those victories happened in the Mexican top-flight, Liga MX, which is where Club America is at the very top of the table.

It seems very likely this team will win the Mexican title, but can they add another major trophy to the collection?

Club America has some amazing players on the roster, especially at the back. Their most expensive player is Pedro Aquino, a Peruvian defensive midfielder. Further, Club America’s skipper is goalie Guillermo Ochoa, who’s recorded 120 caps for the Mexico national team.

This team’s defense surely has the experience needed to keep Monterrey’s forwards at bay. The question is does Club America have enough offensive power to score in the final?

Although they haven’t been too impressive in the final third, they definitely have a couple of players who could find the net on Thursday. After all, this team has scored at least a goal in 13 of their previous 15 games.

Monterrey vs. Club America Prediction and Pick

  • Club America

The CONCACAF Champions League Final is going to be a very close game, there’s no doubt about that. After all, the same was the case in most of the previous meetings between Monterrey and Club America.

Monterrey has been more successful than the opponent, but this time, I think Club America will get a win. Not only are they in much better form at the moment, but Club America’s key players have plenty of experience with big games such as this one.

If you agree with me, placing some soccer bets is the next logical step. Apart from backing Club America to get ahold of the trophy, I’d also recommend betting on under 2.5 goals. The odds on that are +101 at
