MLB Predictions and Best Bets – September 26, 2020

| September 25, 2020 3:17 pm PDT

The 2020 MLB regular season is ticking away. It pains me to say it, but we are in the final days of what began as a 60-day season shortened by COVID-19.

It’s only been a couple of months, but it feels longer since the season technically attempted to begin back in April.

Even so, it’ll be tough to see it go. I’m sure we’ll offer some MLB predictions and top betting picks for the playoffs to some degree, but it won’t be quite the same.

Sad days lie ahead, but we can still bet on regular-season baseball on Saturday. If you’re game, here are the contests that stand out the most to me for today.

  • Orioles vs. Blue Jays
  • Tigers vs. Royals
  • Brewers vs. Cardinals
  • Cubs vs. White Sox
  • Phillies vs. Rays
  • Rockies vs. Diamondbacks

These are the six games that stand out the most to me. A few should be shootouts, some have playoff implications, and others have good pitching matchups.

To see how to bet on said games, let’s dive into my MLB predictions and top bets for Saturday.

Orioles vs. Blue Jays Predictions

  • Orioles to beat Blue Jays
  • Predicted total: 9-9.5

Matt Shoemaker looked good as he silenced the Yankees in his last start, and it’d only make sense that he can go a bit deeper in this game against a weaker Orioles team.

That said, the Jays just clinched their playoff spot.

With Toronto in, Shoemaker shouldn’t go too deep here, and their main bats could be limited. Baltimore could be a nice upset special.

Tigers vs. Royals Predictions

  • Royals to beat Tigers
  • Predicted total: 10-10.5

I talked about targeting Matthew Boyd in Saturday’s best MLB DFS stacks, as he gives up a crazy amount of contact. Kansas City is not a team I like to trust, but they’re at home, and they have the righties to give Boyd trouble.

Give me the Royals and the Over here.

Brewers vs. Cardinals Predictions

  • Brewers to beat Cardinals
  • Predicted total: 8-8.5

Milwaukee badly needs to get wins to close out the year, and I think they’re in a good spot to get one on Saturday. Brandon Woodruff should hold things down defensively, and I trust the offense to do just enough to get past Adam Wainwright.

Cubs vs. White Sox Predictions

  • White Sox to beat Cubs
  • Predicted total: 9-9.5

The battle of Chicago rages on with a likely shootout touching down on Saturday. The White Sox get the ever hittable Jon Lester, so I like them to win big here. You can probably target the Over with confidence, too.

Phillies vs. Rays Predictions

  • Phillies to beat Rays
  • Predicted total: 8-8.5

This is a huge game for Bryce Harper and the Phillies, as they hope to force their way into the NL Wild Card. I like their chances here, as they have the righties to give Ryan Yarbrough trouble.

Rockies vs. Diamondbacks Predictions

  • Rockies to beat Diamondbacks
  • Predicted total: 9-9.5

Lastly, let’s take a look at the Rockies in a pretty sweet spot. They are under-manned these days, but they’re facing a wildly overrated pitcher in Madison Bumgarner.

Neither of these teams has anything to play for, but I like Colorado’s pitching far more and think they can get a nice road win here.

Best MLB Bets for Saturday, September 26th

  • Orioles to Win (+143)
  • Royals to Win (-113)
  • Tigers vs. Royals Over 9 (-125)
  • Brewers to Win (+100)
  • Phillies to Win (+105)

It’s worth paying attention to the playoff situation as the regular season winds down. The NL Wild Card is going down to the wire, with the Phillies and Brewers still in it as the weekend approaches.

Both teams probably need to win out to have a shot, but I like the value with Milwaukee and Philly getting dog money in must-win spots. I also stated why I like the Royals in their matchup with Matthew Boyd, while his hard contact ways should also make the Over pretty appealing.

The big upset pick of the day is Baltimore. The matchup isn’t amazing, but the Jays have nothing to play for. Look for the O’s to end the year in style by returning some nice value for willing bettors.
