MLB Predictions and Best Bets – October 6, 2020

| October 6, 2020 12:14 am PDT

Round two of the 2020 MLB playoffs officially kicked off with two games on Monday. All four of those teams are back in action again tonight, while two more series get started.

If you’re looking to bet on baseball on Tuesday, start with a quick look at what games you’ll be working with at the top baseball betting sites.

  • Marlins vs. Braves
  • Astros vs. Athletics
  • Yankees vs. Rays
  • Padres vs. Dodgers

We saw the Yankees/Rays and Astros/Athletics get things started yesterday, and both series will enter game two tonight. Joining them will be a tense series between the Padres and Dodgers, as well as an NL East clash between the Marlins and Braves.

Will Miami’s weird unbeaten run in the playoffs keep up? Can San Diego show the Dodgers they’re ready for a fight? Find out that and more in Tuesday’s MLB predictions and top betting picks.

Marlins vs. Braves Predictions

  • Braves to beat Marlins
  • Predicted total: 7-7.5

Miami is a pretty fun story, as they improbably upended the Cubs in the wild card round. It’s quite likely their hot run (and storied playoff success) ends in this series, but hey, at least they’re familiar with their opponent.

Sandy Alcantara (3-2, 3.00 ERA) gives them a slim chance, as he rarely explodes. I certainly favor the Braves sticks at home in this spot, however, while Max Fried (7-0, 2.25 ERA) is obviously the arm to trust in this matchup.

I like Atlanta to win, and the pitching probably leans things toward the Under.

Astros vs. Athletics Predictions

  • Athletics to beat Astros
  • Predicted total: 8-8.5

The Astros and A’s came to play on Monday, as the two sides combined for 15 runs. Unfortunately for Oakalnd, Houston had 10 of them.

Houston looked sharp in the first game, but I think things even out a bit here and the A’s answer back. The pitching is a bit of a wash with Framber Valdez and Sean Manaea facing off, so if you’re not totally with me on Oakland tying this series up, bet the Over.

Yankees vs. Rays Predictions

  • Rays to beat Yankees
  • Predicted total: 8-8.5

The pitching really wasn’t up to part last night, as the Yankees blasted the Rays in an easy win. Giancarlo Stanton continued his strong postseason form with a grand slam, and the rest was history.

Tampa Bay does win the matchup on the dirt tonight, however, as Tyler Glasnow could have his way with New York’s lineup. I’m not nearly as confident with Masahiro Tanaka on the other side.

More runs are to be expected in game two. Tampa Bay evens this series up, but we should still have enough scoring to push us toward the Over.

Padres vs. Dodgers Predictions

  • Dodgers to beat Padres
  • Predicted total: 8-8.5

The Dodgers and Padres kick off their NLDS series on Tuesday, which gives us a really nice rivalry matchup. That’s honestly the case with every series, but with San Diego’s ascension and their explosive offensive ability, this may be the one to watch.

San Diego will be a trendy pick to steal game one, but we need to trust what we’ve seen to this point. The Dodgers have superior pitching and the more reliable offense, after all.

I think there’s enough offense to nudge us to the Over, but I don’t see L.A. blowing this first game.

Best MLB Bets for Tuesday, October 6

  • Braves to Win (-191)
  • Athletics (-1.5) +170
  • Astros vs. Athletics Over 8.5 (-120)
  • Rays to Win (-113)
  • Yankees vs. Rays Over 8 (-105)
  • Rays (-1.5) +170

As you can see, there is a lot to like on this MLB betting slate. Of course, it all comes down to personal preference, and what you consider to be good pricing.

I like the Braves, A’s, and Rays to win on Tuesday, so you can guess which direction I’m going with said bets. Atlanta to win at -191 feels safe, but it’s obviously not a wager that offers much value.

The rest of these MLB bets are where you get that value, as Oakland and Tampa Bay to win by two runs (both +170) is fantastic, and you can still bet on the Rays as SU winners at -113 and feel pretty good about it.

I also think both of those games are more high-scoring than the oddsmakers price them as, so we can bet the over with nice -120 and -105 price tags.
